Question - I was always under the impression that a new reg plate started on 1st August e.g. M reg was 1st August 1973 through until 31st July 1974

So with that in mind, how was I riding in this Leyland Chieftain on Silver Jubilee Day 7th June 1977 when S plates would have started on 1st August 1977?

PS - she looked a lot better on Jubilee Day as a brand new wagon

I may be wrong but the letters after the number started in Jan.1967 and E went for 6months

Wrong… they started in 63 with ‘A’ then in 67 they decided to start it in August as it would be better for car sales, so ‘E’ only ran for 6 months.

Don’t what got into me as you see I did know about the 6 month job and In my mouth in gear before the clutch. I had co car’s A’B,C,D and of course an E.
I will write it down 100 times

It’s a good job it had that helper axle between the unit and trailer  could have been a disaster otherwise!! :imp: :imp: Regards Kev.

Enough of the modern stream-lined stuff, lets see a lorry that looks like a lorry, with all the aerodynamic qualities of a breeze-block :sunglasses:  . Chris

Hi Chris, back in May of 2014 and while doing a campervan p/e down in ■■■■■■■■ this couple approached and showed an interest in my trade in van when I was swopping our stuff from "old to “new” motor, this was 6 hours after wrangling with a bunch of rogues, so I was only too happy to put him wise to my dealings that day and the previous 6 months of untruths I had been fed, anyway the gent was John Miller ex company director of Chris Miller Heavy Haulage, it was good to hear about the wagons that the company had through the years, none more so than the Mack and the hauls it had been involved in, not exactly trouble free motor if I remember correctly, they sold out to Ainscough, also in Preston, anyway cheers for the pic
