The peephole mirror caught my eye on this pic, any ideas what it’s for?.

Even before I saw the pic.I knew it would be a Scania.Did any other manufacturer fit these?. My
guess would be a blind spot eliminator.

I’ve seen these used on motors carrying wide loads, caravans, portable buildings etc - it allows the driver to see below his overhanging load.

They were just a blind spot mirror often seen on 110,140,111 and 141s usually Dutch or Danish wagons I have also seen them on Volvo F88/89 I am sure there is a picture of one on TN of a Volvo with one on and they seemed to fade away with later models as the mirror on top of the nearside door took there place. I seem to recall they were on left hookers only. There were also some wagons which had the little window in the same place but no mirror possibly Ford cargo’s artic units
cheers Johnnie

Spotted this Seddon Atkinson Strato weeks ago parked on a farm just off Bacup Road at Weir on the way across to Burnley.Went across there today and this time remembered my camera.

They were an early idea to get rid of blindspots.

Here’s a few real oldies which probably would not have survived if not for dedicated enthusiasts.
