This is from a collection of tractor pics I have, it might have gone like this, the old boy saying to his missus “until we can afford another front wheel I need you for balance” or something similar, they probably did sidecar racing in their younger days

I posted this pic before thinking it was a Dodge but today I found differently, the running gear is a 1972 AEC Marshall with a 1980 Dodge K1100 cab, as someone said, I think it may have been Lawrence Dunbar, that there is quite a bit of make do and mend with trucks in Malta, ingenuity at its best.

Nearer home, waiting at South Mimms for an ■■■■■■.

A very very rare pic that, the wide load bay at South Mimms and not a 7.5T or a Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury or Morrisons truck parked in it.
Couple of Scottish fish lorries, the Scania loading at Whalsay and the Renault unloading in Spain.

I think that Bison’s moved to Swadlincote around the late '90’s Mike, we used to run limestone into both plant’s from Ballidon until Cemex from Doveholes undercut it! It was bad enough at times getting an eight legger out of their Dovehouse Fields site at Lichfield, especially when another truck was trying to get in, now a housing estate I believe.Pete.
Hi Pete.
Cheers for that, never been in there myself but been caught up in the hold ups odd times.
Here’s another memory jogger from the fifties. St Peters St.,Derby part of the A6 trunk road right through the middle
like most towns before Ring Roads and Bye Passes.A Foden FG of Richard Johnson & Nephew plods home to Ambergate.
One of those infamous Trolley Buses back there, when they stopped, use to get up the side just as his bell rang and they nearly always beat you to the next stop.
This is from an old Derby Evening Telegraph newspaper cutting.
Cheers for now.Mike.

This is a Dodge Commando Cab, Regards Larry.
I’ve been malta some mint motors, I hope that Bedford inner a petrol tanker with that nice stack, wouldn’t put it past them, when I went it took me 4 days settle me nerves cuz of the drivers blowin their horns at every chance they got, was a bag of nerves, great place though. I seem to remember the mush that run the bar said that they couldn’t import vehicles with tippers on, as they were made there and that was a form of taxation, don’t know if it was true or not, or if it applied to all bodies, remember seeing a line up of ex mr Kipling erfs on a garage for sale along with some others
Chris Webb:
Two great photos of the Atkinson on the I.C.I. contract. They were operated by a London based company,W. Spurling Ltd and I remember seeing them running about darn sarf in the daytime to the east of the City. The motors were trunked down from Cheshire overnight IIRC.
Nearly, Chris! J Spurling Ltd., and who eventually disappeared into TDG. I’m led to understand that Spurling was part of the original core of TDG. The long-time boss of TDG, James Duncan, started his career there I think.
French ETR Brimont, as I understand it mostly public service vehicles but later ■■■■■■■ with Latil making forestry tractor drawbar units.

Even before I saw the pic.I knew it would be a Scania.Did any other manufacturer fit these?. My
guess would be a blind spot eliminator.
