This abandoned Scania in Malta as the story goes at one time belonged to J W Maver of Morecambe but an STD of 01977(Pontefract) can just be seen on the cab.

That used to be run by C & T Transport of Castleford I believe.

Three from the T Brad Dunkin collection.

While looking at the T Brad Dunkin Collection, I’ve learned something new and that is there was a “Canada Leyland”, they were made in Montreal in the 50’s, If you zoom in on the rad of the '55 model you will see the badge Canada Leyland.

That is really interesting Bubbs (sorry, only joking, I have just done the reverse to him  ), and there is no doubt it is the same company after seeing that distinctive logo. Thanks for something that really justifies the quote ‘not many people know that’.

Thats a strange Scania you posted Oily, I dont think I have seen one of those before, its cab is longer than a day cab but shorter than a sleeper, I remember the NG/SK Mercedes half sleeper, but not a Scania.

our british iron horse and the one i drive

Hi bma, The picture of your British iron horse brought back memories for me, as I used to weld the mesh grills for them in the late’60’s or very early '70’s. A chap used to do the pressings, near Walsall West Midlands, then bring them in to me to weld the edging beads on. Some would be plain mesh and some would have the headlight holes in, which we would press in with a hand press. In those days I would gas weld them, putting them in a jig and just dob a bit on the corners with no time to hang about as they only paid pence! :open_mouth:  It would be interesting to know the age of your beast, as who knows, it might be one I did! Think it’s probably a much later model though.
