I’ve never seen motorcycle tyres the thickness of the Brough, any specific reason for being that “fat”?

Thanks Pete for the explanation, never realised that re twin wheels, presumably due to the side car.

Nos. 2 and 4 are Packards I think. Probably straddle my own in years, but the V shaped rad is typical. After the number plate fell off mine I painted a thick piece of rubber with the number on and tied it round the rad. On my way to court in Stoke for an accident that wasn’t my fault (obviously) I was stopped and given a ticket because it was against the law to have anything other than a flat plate. I pleaded in vain all those sports cars that had them painted over a curved bonnet, all to no avail. :frowning:

Number 5 is maybe a Bentley Continental S1? Lovely looking anyhow.
I thought that Alan Whicker had one, but a quick bit of Googling seems to say he had an S3. Another fine looking bit of kit.

Avon Tyres, was that in Bradford on Avon heading into the town from the north? I have seventies memories of it being a right awkward spot to get into with an artic, on the left just before the bridge. Or am I missing up my memories? Regards Kev.

Avon tyres were in Melksham. I think you might be thinking of Nestle who were/are at BOA
