Parking thurrock

OVLOV JAY:
Basically, everything around Thurrock industrial and retail parks is an overnight clearway. There’s signs at the start of all the main roads. Most people think they’re OK in the side streets, but that’s where they get most people. I know a few that have been done around there.

Do you mean outside Unilever ? as I pulled in there one day and old bill was having a great time booking loads of them, I did get away parking outside once but was told it must have been my lucky night or the fact that it was a weekend perhaps that I wasn’t booked so after that I parked the unit in the services and donned my ear plugs.

Perhaps Conor could acknowledge that he’s read this and not offer the same advice for a third time?

The [zb] yellow lines on the corner come to an end a couple of yards up the road with a line on the end of them. There are no other markings on this road, no restrictions, never seen anyone being ticketed.

Here’s some pictures. One by the blue bus, one by volvos, and the two at the start of the zone by the services, with a close up. The yellow lines are for cars. Lorries can’t park anywhere in the whole area.

I missed it at the time but I drove past this one on the way in

Perhaps now Conor could acknowledge this and not offer the same advice for a third time? Or perhaps he can just carry on pointlessly arguing it or maybe send more people there?

You can’t educate pork mate

Yes mate, all around there. They all do it, but every couple of weeks there’s a purge and everyone gets nicked. Little smart cars go around and film you. Not even a ticket on the screen. The irony is, where Conor is telling people to park, check it out on street view and there’s a load of foreigners all parked illegally :open_mouth:

Because they know they’ll get away with it .

More than likely. But with no physical ticket, they probably don’t know they’ve been done. It’s a racket. The ticket bloke goes round and films them all, so his job covered as the offences are being recorded, then they sell the “debt” to a recovery agent for a few quid. Win win, apart from the debt collectors who don’t realise they won’t get any money.

Wtf is this job coming to when you can’t park on a bloody ind est.
If we were causing a obstruction or whatever fair do.s, but it is just capitalising on the shortage of proper parking around that ■■■■ hole.

Thurrock council are a bunch of absolute wonkers, they are so anti truck it’s unreal, which is a bit rich when you consider the amount trucks bring in to their local economy, with Purfleet dock and the large industrial sites around there.
Good on the foreigners I say for tossing the tickets, ok it maybe aint fair on the rest, but neither is life, but at least it has done those robbing bastds out of a few quid by ignoring payment.

Trouble is Rob, the foreigners stay there for the weekend, and nobody can park outside their units on a Monday morning. So they cause the ban, then flout it. Meaning the only people who suffer are us, who want to park up after the estate is wound down for the night, and go before it winds up again. It’s not the trucks parking that’s the problem, it’s how long they’re there.

Same thing happens at the industrial estate in Ashford at the bottom of the road that goes past the truck stop. Foreign trucks taking their 45s off and folk being unable to get into units of park their cars up has caused Ashford Council to put Lordy parking bans up and posts up so you can’t park up. We deliver to JDP there and I used to park up there then walk into Ashford town centre. Now if I’m down that way I park up in Sittingbourne and have a couple of beers and some grub there.

Ah right, didn’t realise the full picture.
This all started about 10 yrs ago, it was a free for all round that area, I think Tesco was the first to stop it, they banned truck parking around the shop road, although the shop retaurant was always full of drivers, but maybe our trade was not wanted. :unamused:
I used to drop my trailer in Purfleet dock and that little ind est opposite the fuel station was a favourite park for tractor units.
Then the ■■■■ clamping started and you could not park anywhere.
As I said before we at the firm I worked for in Colchester had an agreement with the Chinese pub/restaurant owner to park there.
Agreement being he let us park and we spent a fortune in his pub and Chinese restaurant…and it worked  , as 9 times out of 10 the ferry always came in late.
It’s a ■■■■ disgrace there are no proper parking places around such a large truck dependent area.

I searched for parking in Thurrock recently and found a council investigation job had been done and they stated there is a need for 100’s of trucks for overnight parking and done sweet FA about it :unamused:
I have a really good spot now 15-20 from the area I will not tell anyone bar my very close work mates as if that gets over ran or causes problems I’ve lost that to!
Lewisham council are rats to, they’ve got on their council site there’s a blanket ban on over night Hgv parking yet there’s ■■■■ loads of decent spots, quiet, on cctv and near enough for local facilities yet they don’t want us there unless it’s to bring in the stuff that keeps folk in jobs all round. Really ■■■■■■ me off :imp:

Erith also has a fair amount of parking, but they come under lewisham so I darent park for a ticket. Yet our ee friends are parked in their droves without consequence.
I’m all for sticking two up at the establishment but yet again we suffer through fines where they do what the ■■■■ they like and get away with it, but like parking under bridges on the m25

Time to clone some ee plates then and slap them on when you park up, would also work in services too , ( if you put em on before entering so their ANPR doesn’t get your real plate) the ammount of ee and other foreign lorries has F ***ed it up for us, In part because the needed infrastructure doesn’t exist in many areas, gone are the days when you could park in supermarket car park and not have any worries, largely thanks to the amount of foreign lorries on our roads
