Parking thurrock

The name Thurrock derives from a old Anglo/Saxon name…Shxt hole…it ain’t changed in 1200 years and proberly won’t ■■■■■■■■ of England …and I live here…Middlesboro runs a close second though

Why Cambridge Extra, what’s wrong with Bar Hill ind est, Tesco nearby and a pub that does good meals. :bulb:
Or the ind est on the other side, although last time I went past the pub beside it that I have used in the past, it was unnoccupied.

stop giving me spots away :grimacing:

Where one of our outbases is at Lakeside is there there are plenty of drivers who park up here on a night on Central Avenue.

If you zoom out a little bit you’ll find that there is a Franky & Bennies, a KFC, a McDonalds and a Burger King all within 2 minutes walk.

Basically you go past the entrance to the services, turn left at the next roundabout, right at the next, down the short hill then right at the next roundabout then left at the one after that and turn left after Matalan on your left.

Cheers for this, the beer is ice cold in Frankie & Benny’s right now!

Bar Hill isn’t too bad the meals are nice in the pub and there is also a Tesco’s as Rob says, BUT!!! don’t use the chippy it’s the worse chippy ive ever been in :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
If i was in the Cambridge area i’d park at St Ives, Meadow lane nr Marshalls, 5 min walk into town loadsa pubs, chippys, chinkys etc + totty :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

There’s jack all down there, but if a place was shut, and you were going to be away early doors, there’s usually folk parked up down Dolphin Way. And I don’t know the name of the road, if you carry on up the hill, past DSV, hang a right at the lights, there’s a big 'ole layby.

Ain’t Thurrock and the surrounding area bad for getting tickets even if the roads don’t have double yellows?

And this FFS :unamused: :imp: can’t say I wasn’t warned i suppose.
Apparently I’m parked “in contravention of a commercial vehicle waiting restriction” whatever thst means. Eyes fronts.

These stealth tickets annoy the hell out of me, all over the country there’s secret rules about Hgv parking we don’t know about and get fined for when parking up despite no signs telling us giving us the option :imp:

Central Ave West Thurrock. See plenty parked up on the roadside here. Enough room to turn around and Burger King, McDonalds, KFC, Frankie & Bennies and a cinema within a 5 minute walk.

Obviously you’re not paying attention! Last night, while enjoying a cold beer in F&B I thanked you for suggesting Central Avenue. A little later I got back to my truck and I had been given a parking ticket along with all the foreign units I was parked with.
I can heartily recommend not following your advice to park here.

As I side note, the tickets given to a couple of the foreigners were left on the ground this morning, no doubt our foreign brothers will apologise for this regrettable attitude and will be paying their fines presently.

It takes the ■■■■, no signs or lines anywhere near where I was parked and there’s no way any of us parked there were causing any kind of inconvenience to anyone. I’ll be contesting it on the grounds that there was no restriction evident.

How much is the fine?
Do you get a meal voucher

  70 quid but reduced to 35 if I’m a good boy and shut up and pay it quickly

Only a fiver dearer than thurrock services
Bouns is you don’t have to eat there crap.

Basically, everything around Thurrock industrial and retail parks is an overnight clearway. There’s signs at the start of all the main roads. Most people think they’re OK in the side streets, but that’s where they get most people. I know a few that have been done around there.

Not worth me bothering with an appeal then.
Perhaps Conor could acknowledge that he’s read this and not offer the same advice for a third time?

The ■■■■■■■ yellow lines on the corner come to an end a couple of yards up the road with a line on the end of them. There are no other markings on this road, no restrictions, never seen anyone being ticketed.

Here’s some pictures. One by the blue bus, one by volvos, and the two at the start of the zone by the services, with a close up. The yellow lines are for cars. Lorries can’t park anywhere in the whole area.

SteveBarnsleytrucker:
a few drivers in the pub would act like free security for the landlord and if anything kicked off or someone rowdy started they were soon put in their place.

I can imagine the scene, a fight kicks off and a driver waddles, err I mean wades in

I missed it at the time but I drove past this one on the way in

Perhaps now Conor could acknowledge this and not offer the same advice for a third time? Or perhaps he can just carry on pointlessly arguing it or maybe send more people there?
