I had one of Ipswichs old 2025’s, a full sleeper cabbed twinsteer with alloy wheels. Damned if I can remember the reg though. It was no worse that some of the second hand kit my old guvnor would buy to use in the fleet!
In fact, with the night heater and a decent respray, it was probably one of the better buys he made better than the ex Ferrymasters Volvo F86’s he bought. Those had a bunk built into the cab that used to narrow down to about a foot wide behind the drivers seat, just enough to get your legs behind. That F86 was registered WRT971S.
I remember Ferrymasters having a depot in Desborough in the late 70s, if you were travelling south on the A6 after Mkt Harborough just as you come into Desborough over the railway line turn left then next left, they were down there. I remember them having scammell routeman artics on a chinese six !
Great pic, but not from the Desborough depot…

I worked at desborough depot 1974 to 1979 (traffic office) . when i started we had F86 , scania 80 d/cabs and a DAF 2200 , replacing them with merc 1619 and volvo F7, the ones that did the driver accompanied stuff started with their 86/2200/80’s and then had them changed for volvo f88/240, we did have an f89 off the middle east fleet for a while , till he wrote it off.the scammell trunker was used for taking trailers to leicester for mot.
when i left i went back on there working out of the desborough depot on traction
