P&O Ferrymasters

Seeing those latest outfits makes me wish I was still driving Lorries and not just writing about them .
During the docks blacking of 1974 Henry Smithers was then part of P&O and a handful of us were sent to Dover to pull for Ferrymasters , some might recognise the Dover dock photo of my ERF of that perod , my brother went on to drive one of those Ferrymaster F86s out of the Southampton base on Transfer from Smithers .

I have seen trucks running round Brittany in Transaliance colours ,but written on the front is GBE Amour ,are they based in 22 ?

I dont know about the GBE Amour bit, as the GBE I work for are only based in 76 and 33.

There are around 20 companies within the Transalliance group and we were known as Transalliance in the UK but recently paperwork and memos have been coming from GBE.

Yes I know the depot in 33 ,that was the Bordeaux office of the original GBE.

Iveco Eurostars on the Portsmouth fleet:

Mercedes Actros Portsmouth fleet.

Can remember seeing 2025’s on their ipswich fleet. Must have been a real chore at that power fully freighted…

KW:
I’m sure FM in Ipswich used to have some SK’s,I seem to remember them being twin-steers.

Your right KW about the twin steers as Les Sampson bought most of them and ran em into the ground either on the box work or the Seament contract he had at the time running out of Tilbury.

I have got to the bottom of the GBE Armor that you mention and a few more recent changes in our group. We were tied with TOE in Dieppe through the Transalliance banner and there was also TOE. Isle de France which we kept. That was renamed to Eurodistri and GBE have opened a new depot in Pipriac called GBE Armor

Thanks
