Anyone been down the A1 this past week on nights? There’s been a scamera van parked up on the grass entrance to a layby about 5 mile south of Colsterworth and about 1 mile before Woolfox Depot, just at the bottom of the downhill slope where you’ll overrun if you’ve some weight on. Was there Wed, Thur, Fri last week between 11pm and 4am at least (saw it there going down and coming back later on) and one of the fellas I work with said it was there last night too. It’s parked with side lights on and has the 2 flaps open in the top of the rear doors with camera lenses poking out. The A1 there is unlit so they must be using IR to see anything.

Maybe ANPR ?
See one near me most nights/ early hours Copper parked nearby to catch uninsured/ no mot / un licensed
No cops in sight anywhere, unless they were in the middle of the layby somewhere where I couldn’t see them. Whichever, it’s the first time I’ve seen them parked up at night operating.
About 2am this morning i seen 3 police traffic cars in a laybye on the northbound side , did,nt see scamera van though. That was in the colsterworth area
Will be passing n/bound 2100hrs will keep eyes peeled. Never seen one at night before though. I hope never to see one night time thats dirty tricks that.
The van was on the grass on the entrance to the layby on the southbound side. If you know where the big layby is on the northbound side, just after the huge Ramjam sign, it’s on the other side a bit further up, before you get to the Jet? garage and Ramjam hotel.
Hiya…just a bit off route but the same problem…on the A556 at the bottom of Kelsall hill.
i’ve noticed the van on the grass with a camera out of the window…just keep your eyes
open lads…i was only in my camper van but was on the 70 mark going down hill…dua
carrigeway.

Its actually A54 there, easy mistake to make though as the 556 ends at the juction where the 54 from Winsford slides into it from the side the other side of Kelsall, they’re normally tucked in the layby at the bottom of that hill just where the D/C funnels back to single carraigeway or theres a copper that regularley just blatantly parks with two wheels on the island at the end of the lane coming out of Kelsall where it joins the D/C with a speed gun poking out of the drivers window the [zb] nearly had me in the car coming down that hill trying to get past a convoy of blue rinse silver tops on their way to Llandudno
A van with 2 flaps above the rear doors with two cams poking out is an ANPR van so should be no issue with speeding. Have a look at the following website peeps to see what the ■■■■■■■ are up to and in what…

I passed there last night around 22:30-22:45 but didn’t see anything…Or maybe I was asleep at the time…
Not necessarily as there are pics of scamera vans (not ANPR) on that site’s other pages which are pretty much identical to the ANPR vans, but in this case I would tend to agree with you that it was an ANPR van as there were no speed camera logos on it anywhere.
Hiya joe…well i’am stunned ive traveled through Kelsall since 1958 and since 1970 profesnally and never knew that bit of road was the A54…in the late 70’s i would drive through kelsall three trips each way every
week…i suppose i knew the road well enough not to bother about the number infact now a days i only
live 10 miles away…that van that parks at Kelsall only has one camera in the back window

As I said John, easy to miss that one, but even then just to complicate things the A54 title runs out 4 miles later at the Tarvin r/bout where it becomes the A51 for the rest of the journey to Chester

Yes, does sound lvery likely an ANPR then. I didn’t see anything last night though, but was past there by 11pm.
