I saw this in comical motor ,looks nice ,does anyone know its history?also where did the 8 wheeler tipper at tip on spring from?
Thats a very late one 1989 we were buying the 95s in 1987 E plates
looks like a middle east type spec model - long wheelbase , exhaust ,fuel tank , mudguards etc - in the uk we had ATis from 86 … & that tacho head ?
That’s spec’d for a dusty place, it also has split rims, my guess is Arab or African spec, maybe even Israel.
Maybe it’s because it’s a very late model but the rear lights, diesel tank and air intake don’t look right to me. And some ■■■■■■■ nicked the wipers

That’s right, just look at the extra filer box on the air intake. What is making me wonder is why it is a Right Hand Drive. One of my DAF’s was one of an aborted Turkish order, but that was a 3300, but that was very basic, ordinary wheels, ordinary air intake and an underslung exhause system, and large heavy rear multileaf springs, Left Hand Drive. The dash / tachograph was just the same as that one. I really liked the DAF’s.
According to wikipedia Australia, Britain, Burma, India, Ireland, Japan and New Zealand all drive on the right. There’s a bunch in the bottom eastern corner of Africa too, so that’s where my money’s going.
Hey, a strange one. It has parabolic springs but still 1200R20 tyres at the end of the '80. It is not an ATI because it is not an Intercoold one only turbo so DKTD 260hp engine. It has still the 2800 type black grille compared to the last 2800/3300/3600 which had a designed model as the 95.
I don’t know if you had them in Britain with that type of grille and if you had the 2900/3200 models with that grille too.
The long wheelsbase was normal with the ATI models mostly.
I must be a purpose build one, and a strange tacho for me no one with a stand for one or two drivers, not a red band on the rev counter.
But maybe a nice buy for an enthusiastic of the 2800 serie, after all have gone to Africa, too expensive to keep one here in Belgium. here they were sold for a higher price as a Scanny V8 in the same used condition.
cheers Eric,
Is this the same one that was advertised on ebay a week or so ago, and mentioned on here?

I have answered my own question- yes, it is the same one, and it has done the rounds of several hopeful profiteers in the past few months!
Hey, i saw it has never been registered so nowadays it will be not allowed anymore,it will be not conform, but maybe for preservation.
And yeah Anorak you will have right in hands of “moneymakers” who want to sell it as an ingot of gold.
What a shame but money makes the well comes around doen’t it!!!
Cheers Eric,

I was wondering the same thing, then saw the ad and the claimed 54km (or was it 584?) and knew it was the same vehicle.
Seen two similar to this one if I remember correctly they were for a United Nations peace keeping job and possibly spent some time in holding around tilbury , indeed they were late reg as we already had quite a few 95 s when they became available .
They were indeed non inter cooler no electric window,s no night heater etc and may have had an extra set of air filters behind the cab and the fuel tank sat across the chassis behind the cab.
They had blue curtains and mattress similar to the early 95 series if its one of the same batch as the ones I’m thinking of.
I called for this truck this morning and it is under offer but the asking price is £27,000
Hiya…i thought the late ones with blue/grey seats was a 3200…S Cooper from Bollington/Northwich had 2 of them

At some stage, after the 95 came out in 1987, they started putting a 95-style grille on the old models, and calling them 2900s, 3200s and 3300s, depending on which market they were sold in. They carried on as 3300s in markets considered too backward for the 95. The 2900 and 3200 were introduced belatedly into the UK when it was discovered that our simple operators could not get to grips with the more complicated 95.
I reckon that one must have been one of the last with the original-style front panel.

John , your right ,they did - In the UK the 95 replaced the 2800 3300 & 3600 in Oct 87, then Daf re-introduced the 3200 ( with the blue/grey int like the 2700)in 1990 archive.commercialmotor.com/arti … to-uk-3200 , the one above as discussed is a ‘special’ , middle east spec obviously built for another market .
