Driving anything less than Class 1 is like going with an ugly woman.
It feels ok but embarrassing if any of your mates see you.
Conor:
I doubt very much it was parked with the brake off. On that incline it would have started moving pretty much as soon as he took his foot off the brake and certainly before he’d managed to reach the back of the motor on his way to get his bit of timber.
To be fair we just see it rolling, not start rolling. A tyre was probably kissing the curb and him getting out may have been the movement that set it off.
I’ve always wanted to join Trucknet CSI…how am I doing?
Maybe he’d just picked a dropped trailer up. Handbrake left off in cab, pushes button to release trailer brake? (wood is what legs were on).
Been parked, brakes on because of low air, leaves it ticking over, air builds up, and off she goes?
Not saying they’re it, but possibilities maybe?
If it was a CSI case it’d be the adopted son of his divorced wife who employed someone to jump in the cab and take off the brake in an attempt to kill him and gain inheritance monies!

Driving Class One is indeed like getting off with the top woman around - because you not only get a whole lot dirtier, - but you have more fun doing it as well!
The only thing better than waking up at the crack of dawn with a good looking woman in bed next to you - is waking up at Lunchtime with the Crack of Dawn, a good looking woman, in bed next to you.

Not bad but you didn’t mention the fact it might be an ee driver or mentioned how its probably to do with how easy it is to get a license these days so a bit of work still required to make the tncsi grade yet I’m afraid
The standard of Grammar on this board means that no one gives a hoot if you’re EE or not. You won’t be able to tell by their standards of English.
Put your tin hat on, come on in, and welcome!
That must be one of the worst nightmares, watching your truck roll away.

Probably depends entirely on what type of truck it is!
I hope volvo see this video, this is proof that those stupid handbrakes are dangerous. Electronic handbrakes have been known not to come on when you press them. The drive looks to be an old hand at the game cant see hom forgetting the brakes, ultimitly its his fault, would it have happened with the lever park brake tho? I blame volvo and that crap electronic brake, this is proof its dangerous.

First time I’ve been that lost by one of your comments though?
Maybe a bit tenuous, but I was linking the government dismantling the NI pension setup, changing it to an additional overhead for the common man. However that’s not how it’s been sold, as that idea wouldn’t fly. As anyone with any sense would say NO, just as they would if they were suggested to try stopping a truck with a 1.1 Fiesta…

indeed it is !!! and i know exactly how that bloke feels watching it roll away and can’t do anything about it
happened to me in 1991 3 weeks after passing my class 3 it rolled down a hill into an industrial unit half demolished it and caused 16 grands worth of damage and that didn’t include the motor

Bugger! I knew I hadn’t jumped to enough unfounded conclusions. I’ll do better next time

Ah there’s some of that CSI conclusion jumping. They aren’t dangerous if used properly and in many instances they are safer, I.e they come on automatically when you stop the engine. You don’t really think Volvo just plonked it in with no extensive testing now do you? Trucks have been rolling away because of driver error for as long as that old chap has been alive!
Doesn’t anyone crimp the kerb when parking up on a downhill slope anymore?
found a news article
thesun.co.uk/news/3314765/d … -on-video/
thankfully it would appear that no one was injured, but since it is reported as a ‘runaway pick up truck’ who knows what the real story is.

Seemingly not as bad as the thought of losing your favourite bit of wood.

The fact is the driver got flagged down as he was oblivious to the fact that he was dropping a bunch of unstrapped timber bearers all over the road, eventually stopping at the top of the slip road he got out to collect his timber, he also had to be told that his truck was rolling away as he was oblivious to that as well.
The driver has since been sacked, and quite rightly too, only pure luck that there wasn’t a serious accident when it rolled across and down the A50.
This isn’t TruckNet CSI, our driver is the one that initially flagged him down and his (red) truck can be seen in the rear view mirror on the footage.

Ahh. Not just me being more obtuse than normal then. You missed out on a career as a setter for cryptic crosswords methinks? Some other tenuous link available here about Fiestas not flying as well as some other makes maybe?

They do, you just don’t need the ballast in the back seat!
