On The Buses!!

The inside of the bus in the yard at about 04:30 - looks nice and cosy doesnt it

First run of the day - the Portals run, this the bus given to me…

The all important bit of equipment - the cup of coffee

The office…

10 minutes into the run and I pass the “local” travellers “site” :unamused:

The entrance to Festival Place shopping centre car park…

This is a weird shaped roundabout - its oval :open_mouth:

Through a low bridge - its 11ft summat I think…

And then down a country road…

At Portals I had a bit of time to do a bit of reading… :sunglasses:

After my break from 07:07 to 08:07 it was time to do this :imp:

And I was the only one at the bus station

A bus and taxi only bit of road between the 2 carriageways :open_mouth:

This pillock is always parked on this corner making it difficult to turn… :imp:

The only way out of the bus station and people have somehow managed to hit the concrete pillars :open_mouth:

Its…um…very interesting.

Do you ever carry passengers to make it more exiting??

Good God! a copy of Truck & Driver on a bus!

Tiger.

I have gotta say it cos you have put the immortal thread title…

I’ll get you Butler!!!"

 Sorry.

I can’t believe that Stagecoach are still using crappy old Wayfarers. Wheres the all singing, dancing teasmaid type these days■■?

The more I look at this picture, the more my eyes go goggley,

Thanks a nice read and some good pictures, ,do you drive the doubledeckers as well
and also what about the bendy buses??;WE have a couple of double deckers running
locals from Unna into Dortmund, they have to run a set route due to being over 4.00ms
and seem to be well liked

I dont know how ya could drive a bus, there so noisy everything rattles inside, sooo noisy but i can’t drive yet so i have to use them :imp: :imp:

I guess it’s a Dennis Dart. If it’s any consolation the driving area on our Alexander Dennis doubledeckers look about the same too. Stagecoach tend to have quite a few of the Dart’s around.

I take if you’ve got your stick licence on the buses, how do you prefer driving buses with a stick compared to full auto’s?

I’m 10 months in now and working for NXWM

This is one of the evening routes I used to drive. Haven’t had this route for a while though.

Get to drive the deckers quite often though.

This is what I trained on, a Lynx. That’s the instructor and other driver at the Wolverhampton depot practicing for the reversing exercise.

The driving seat of the Lynx.

Not got many fots of the current buses I drive, but I enjoy doing it and glad I moved over. Especially considering the current employment market. I’ve heard that NXWM/TWM have about 3000 application forms ‘in the queue’ at any given time. Probably going up considering they’ve stopped taking on.

That windsceen sticker is a bit below the belt, cos he didn’t break down this week (yet.)

Still very funny though…

It’s his TNUK nameplate

At least he wont have problems getting tipped, even if he is running late.

Thats a good thing about buses they load and tip all automatic ,no arsey flt driver needed.

Yep I drive double deckers, but cant on that route due to low bridges…
Nope, never driven a bendy bus, dont want to drive a bendy bus either - their for London and they can stay there…

It is a Dennis Dart, and I guess they used the common parts for the Tridents (ie the dash) and everything else built by Dennis - the N reg step Darts have the same dash as well :open_mouth:
However I was going to slate Dennis Darts off however I drove an Optare Solo for the first time today… :smiling_imp:
99.9% of Stagecoach fleets seem to be made up of various types of Dennis ZB with the rest made up of Volvo and a handful of Optare… :unamused:

I remember years ago, one company introduced minibus / hail and ride services oround Loughborough. They were optare’s, what a pile of crap.

If you had dodgy socks on, everyone could see cos of the high driver position and lets just say you had no chance if you’d had a skinfull. The suspension was bouncy as hell,
