You’re right, it just about manages to move itself…
I think an “On Tow” nameplate would indentify myself sufficently…
always wanted to know why the indicator stalk is on the wrong side? stu?

No idea, but it also does the windscreen wipers, the screenwash, the main beam and the headlight flashy thing…
oh rite
not a bad read matey
took me back to my bus driving days with First group in Glasgow atleast you werent lumbered with a decrepit Leyland Atlantean or god forbid a Volvo Ailsa or if you were really unlucky a Leyland Olympian
A Dennis Dart and a wayfarer…brings back horrible memories
Have the brakes improved on the darts?
It used to be a case of standing on the pedal to make the bloody thing stop…and then there was the window rattle-it was so loud we used to stuff blank paper feed tickets in the gap tp stop them rattling everytime you went over a bump…
God,I DONT miss the buses…
So they are really some bus drivers in UK who don’t speak Polish?
Maybe one day I will meet one too

Welcome to the world of Stagecoach South - we get no new double deckers because the MD doesnt like them beliving in high frequency single decker route, and where everybody else seems to be updating their fleets to low floor, we seem to be getting rid of Volvo B10Ms (60 odd seaters) for, yep 40 seater clapped out step entry Darts and we’ve been promised new ticket machines ever since I started there over 2 years ago
And no Joe, the brakes are still ZB

Apparently there is, however I dont speak English, I talk gibberish…
Yes Orys, I’m a bus driver and speak English (and gibberish), but there are loads of my colleagues in my depot who speak Polish, Portuguese, Turkish, Hungarian, Spanish, French and even Irish, Scottish and Welsh too. It is like the United Nations in our canteen!
Stagecoach! YUK. We have that team around here and a few of my old bus driver mates are on for them. Are they as bad as my old workmates make out?
Seeing those pics of buses brings all the years I spent driving them rushing back. I ended up hating the job personally but all the driving experience has stood me in good stead for HGV driving. I don’t know if I could ever do the job again…maybe if the transport industry gets flushed even further down the toilet I may not have a choice!
The Leyland Lynx pics bring back memories too. We only had a few of them at the Tracky’s but boy were they bloody fast, like ■■■■ off a shovel at pulling away…they had a Very sensitive throttle I seem to remember. Made for some interesting traffic light set off’s!
Great pics, great post.
back in me old bus driving days, there was nowt like the early riser for the next stop?,wait till they got half way down the the bus ,then tap the brakes and a presto they was at the front before the stop.
had to be a bit more carefull with the old dears, they lost their false teeth if misjudged the run in.
no fun in it down here, also crap pay.
what would blakey have made of it?
