Evening all, you know I watch his thread with interest, why? Because so many of these “old” motors, to me seem modern!
Now I am guilty in whetting your appetites because of my equipments, (let alone my own), inability to put photographic evidence on here, but I am reminded of my friend Bill Holdings fleet members, from sunny Shropshire.
The ex J E Clark FL10 F reg, but now a 360, driven by his son Andy, and coupled to a rather nice King semi low loader. Or the 4000 Series Foden, 8x4, on an E. Used to be CAT power, but now much happier with a Rolls 220. Or then there is the E8 ERF, beautiful little Beavertail, and Crane, all created by Chris Holding, and a real working beauty. Then there is the FL7, 6x2, with a big Hiab, and wagtail, or the E reg Cargo Hooklift , or Bills immaculate F12 6x2 tag, (but thats a York), one of the first “flat tops”, ask the lads from Heanor how well she goes! Or the FH16, 6x2, so modern that she wears a modern livery, Metallic blue, a big shift from the traditional red and green! Oh and she runs with a very nice Brushuis 4axle.
I expect, (and hope), someone will have pictures of all of these beautifully maintained lorries, and dear friends, they earn just as much as a new one!!
And the oldest that Bill maintains,…my Scammell Scarab and trailer, 1958, (but reg on a C), use her all the time to deliver my wonderful hay, and great fun to drive at 25mph!!! Cheerio for now.
