Blimey, you had a guardian angel catch you on the way down that day Mappo, the damage is shocking.
You,re not wrong there Trev.
Here’s another shot of it.
how on earth did they get you out of there? did you end up crouched in the footwell?
I posted this photograph on " Scrapbook Memories " earlier today. Actually , it should have been placed on here .
Maybe a brain ■■■■ moment
.
Anyway,…the main details are on " S.M." , so Ill not repeat on here,.....other than it

I was on my back, half in and half out of the cab where the windscreen should have been.
My most serious injury was a dislocated hip. I consider myself to be very lucky.
Of course back then no seatbelts were required…I,d hate to think what the outcome would
have been if it had happened today wearing a seatbelt.
thats the reality of it though isn’t it, wear the seatbelt and you wouldn’t be here to tell the tale! You’re one lucky fella.
Trust you didn’t have a passenger. Can you say what led to the accident?

Thankfully no passenger…I was merrily cruising along on the M8 in Glasgow on the Kingston bridge
when the steering wheel just spun in my hands which caused me to jackknife and through the safety barrier.
It would appear that there was a split on the inside wall of the front near side tyre, which it looks like the policemen in the photo are pointing at.
Luckily I landed onto waste ground and no one else was involved.
Had it happened another 50 yards on I would have been in the river Clyde. A softer landing no doubt but gawd knows
what the outcome would have been then.
Gaz…would be interested to know what happened to you mate, show us your pics.

ok mate heres the story of what happened,
How it all started, ive been mad on trucks all my life & still am. I passed my class 1 middle march 1989 at the tender age of 21, worked double maning with my mate who had his own transconti for a few months to gain some experience, because you know what they say with no experience its very hard to get a job, but my mate had to pack in due to ill health, so i went working for this “COWBOY OUTFIT” driving an X reg Daf 2800 on brick & block work, it was a goodish motor but you had to stand on the brakes to get um to work, then on august the 4 the brakes went completely & i hit some trees then i dont know what happend till i woke up in the hospital 2 weeks later paralised from the chest down, id broke my neck & severed my spinal cord & that was the end of my truck driving career.
here are the pics,
cheers
