Old Truck Accident Pics

Eddie Heaton:
0Let’s have another wreck before we call it a day. There’s nothing like a bit of carnage, I find, to induce a peaceful night’s slumber.

This one occurred in Darlington St. East in Wigan, just down from Bulldog tools.

O.k. I know it’s not a truck, but it’s an accident, and it’s old, and it may be of interest to anyone who lives in Wigan.

Yes, I know it’s difficult to believe that anyone actually inhabits the place, but there are worse places you know.

Hi Eddie, Of course there is worse places, Plus where else can you get Uncle Joes Mint Balls , Ha Ha , Rgards Larry

Cheers. Eddie.

image.jpgNot an uncommon occurrence in the tipper game. One of Walter Forshaw’s from Westhoughton come unstuck. Are they still in business? I haven’t seen them around for quite some time.

I’m open to correction here, but I believe this one was in the Pendleton area of Manchester. Is that not the Irwell in the distance?

Anyway, wherever it was, Virgil came up trumps again.

Forshaws are still around,in a big way now,new premises,plant,trucks etc,do work natiowide.

Foden S80/S83’s had a habit of falling over if fitted with Edbro twin rams as they raised the body too high! We had a couple go over with no real damage done, one was tipping on the banking at MIRA and the other on a site in London. Edbro were aware of the problem so we had to modify ours by putting spacers below the collars on the lower two or three rams and fitting shorter top rams, all supplied by Edbro, that seemed to cure the problem.

Pete.

image.jpgI reckon if you’re going to turn your motor over you might as well make a proper job of it , like this lad did. No half measures here eh ?

The Tecalamit looks as though it might be worth salvaging, but that’s about it.

[attachment=0]image.jpg[/attachmentHmmm., now let me see., should I post this one on the Magirus Deutz thread, the wreckers thread, or the OTA thread ? Let’s go for OTA.

Yep Pete, that was driven by Bob Senior, he was a lucky guy to walk away from that, IIRC he hit a stationary lorry in freezing fog on the A38 north of Derby, fortunately no one was hurt bad, I think Bob cracked a rib but was back at work a few days later.
The BRS unit on contract to Goodyear was a Y reg Sed Ak 401 most of the running gear was salvaged 250 ■■■■■■■ / Fuller box etc., I swiped the bed out of it (still in it’s plastic! ) for the Leyland constructor sleeper I drove at the time.

With luck like that, it’s only a matter of time before he wins the lottery.

That Scania looks like an ex R W Stewart motor.

A couple found on internet, looks like a Birmingham reg on the sheeted tipper

The tipper looks like an ex army Austin and the lorry was a maudsley possible mogul…looks like an agricultural tractor involved too…my guess late 1940 s or early 50 s. Note the 20 mph speed limit plate on the back of the tipper.

I think the tractor is a Chaseside mounted on a Fordson skid unit, it is a Maudsley but must have stopped in its tracks a bit sharpish judging by the way the loads come over the front of body!

Talking of Harry anybody heard anything from him lately

This looks like the Lion Bridge at Alnwick, There was quite a lot of wagons ran back over in the old days, Its a very steep pull up into Alnwick, A lot of drivers used to take the long way around Rennington & Rock and rejoin the A 1 south of the low bridge, Regards Larry.
