So presumably the rumours going round at the time were true. Was the result of the strike that Campsey’s closed down, and did they never re-open?
Wheelnut will know the answer why campeys did not go back to work but he is keeping a low profile maybe he is sking somewhere no doubt he will post areply when he reads wot was going on .
One of the Campey Brothers sons is running a small fleet out of the glass factory at Whitley Bridge,about 6 to 8 trucks at this present time but it is nothing to do with the old H Campey & Sons.

I am no wiser, but I suppose this was the time that Fred Wright almost doubled in size and moved into Larsen road in Goole. an interesting newspaper article though. Which paper was that from, can you remember?
I suppose the downturn in private wharves also made the decision for them as the main docks were up and running more efficiently again after the strikes and walkouts of the 70’s especially on Goole Docks
Does anyone else remember Belton of Hook. They were good friends of my parents and I was allowed to play in and around the lorries in the yard at weekends.
