I used to see one simlar to OWT 577K parked on ash grove, maltby,nr rotherham when I was younger I wonder if the driver was calling on relatives?

What about Brasbeys from Goole. It was on the corner between the garage and Burtons, later to become Shaws who ran the car import business on Goole docks. Brasby ran 3 motors 2 Commers and a Seddon. Boddys from Camblesforth who ran AEC Mamoth Major 8 leggers.

I don’t know Brasbey but I did work for Ted Shaw for a while, apart from the Renault business (that was supplying a lot of cackling women to drive the cars off the ship to the distribution centre) Ted Shaw operated coaches, a warehouse and a small industrial estate. I never really discovered my job title, he was an odd bod to work for, always fussing around and he did visit the pubs a lot.

I wish someone could tag all these chaps, a right bunch of characters I reckon :grimacing:

The guy second from the right (Top Row) appears to be “Slim Aldred” and the fellow at the left (Bottom Row) Appears to be Bobby Brown
If the picture was enhanced i might be able to tag some other names, James “Yank” Allen (EX ONWARDS)

What was his name or what is his name?

Ted was a pompous old stick but his heart was in the right place and he was quite generous with me

Bottom row next to last looks like a young Ken ? can’t remember his surname but he did use the CB handle Halftrack ( I could be wrong )

That old ERF 8 legger was running out of Selby depot when I started there I was 18 and too young to drive it. I had a 4 wheeler Albion on Castrol work in those days you could drive anything that was under 3 ton unladen weight I hated it actually. The group manager was Frank Jolly Mr Jolly to us, he was very kind to me and tried to encourage me to do my best. I did not stay long at Selby and later on when I was 21 I started with Onward Cas they had just taken over the fleet of Tommy Hopton which all were Kew Dodges and 26ft Boden trailers. and a few 6 wheel dodges. This was the old Lock lane depot before they moved to Whitwood.

Referring to Campeys blog when I was a lad from Howden I remember them very well up and down Selby Road navy blue livery with yellow lettering which leads me now actually today Sunday 16/8/15. Whilst on the M2 Motorway near Brenley Corner I noticed a white Scania " Campeys of Selby " on the headboard pulling a LKW Walter trailer Dover bound, now some of you from Selby area I would be most interested to know more about present day Campey
