Leapers Riccall
Fred Wrights Trucks at Selby & Goole
just the job them mate, the real old timers
Great shame that two old companies have gone, Goole & Selby docks were so busy and probably spoilt by containerisation, RMS and Seawheel rates.
Others gone and forgotten were Beltons, Whitedale, Ringrose and a few others.
Long time since this company were in Selby.

Fantastic pictures.I remember the Danish Bacon Company coming to our village shop in the 50’s with those Bedfords.
I don’t suppose any of you lads have a picture of a p112 6x2 reg no. A 107 TWC run by Holman’s in the late 80’s. I had this motor brand new at Les Sampson Services running out of Sunderland docks. It was the first new motor I drove, night heater, radio cassette player, proper bunk - sheer luxury!

Funny you should say that about it not liking to go round corners in the wet, I seem to remember having the same trouble with it. I had a R112 at Van Hee and don’t remember having the same trouble with that. Samson were based at the Royal Albert Dock in London and had a depot at Ipswich and one at Sunderland. They bought a rake of P112’s all numbered A–ROO three were based at Sunderland, the rest at London. They then bought another batch numbered A—TWC. 107 came to Sunderland and 105 went to Ipswich. Samson closed the Ipswich dept about 1986 and 105 came to Sunderland. The Sunderland depot closed about 1987 and all the motors went back to London. Later they changed over to Seddon Atkinsons. I think Samson called it a day in the early 90’s.
Here’s a pic of some of the A__ROO 112’s in the yard at Sunderland. Most of Samson’s work was pulling containers for Westgate Shipping.
