These tippers are loading Manganese Ore for Eveready at Tanfield Lea, Long gone now sadly to say. Regards Larry.

HI Lawrence, where are these Cowans Sheldon of Carlisle dockside luffing cranes located, Newcastle Quay ? I used to make the wooden patterns for the D shaped counterbalance weights each side of the machinery house. If these cranes were built in the late 50s I probably had a hand in some of the cast components.

This is how we usually hauled Pig Iron from Workington Larry !!! On the flat, but loaded and unloaded by magnet, this load IIRC was destined for the Ford foundry at Dagenham and it is,for some reason,on a K.Fell trailer and coupled to a Bewick 111.A Fell trailer very rarley got into W. ■■■■■■■ so this must have been an exception so instead of loading it for Lancashire we have banged a load of Pig on it for the South !! Cheers Dennis.
