My motor
Hi Lawrence. This Chieftain would have a LAD cab by 1960. £11 for a heater and flashers extra. I used to see lots of these Albion chassis/cabs passing through Carlisle on their way south from Scotstoun.
Cheers Leyland 600

Hi Lawrence here are some pics I took about 1978 while delivering to Keith Slaters Barcombe Grove Farm and coming out of North White House at Stannington.
Drivers daily record sheet from 1964. Vehicle reg is 43 FBB which was a Bedford 4 wheel tipper. Sheet has been completed in pencil (canāt think why) so has started to fade.
Agreement to buy 3000ton of domestic coal. 1943/44 and pre National Coal Board. Domestic coal was probably on ration. T (Thomas) Peacock was my Fatherās uncle. My Father eventually bought the coal business from his uncle about 1949.

Does anyone know if this was a RMC mixer before Thompsons bought it, as the TM seems to think it was orange when it turned up ā ā ?
I remember this motor of Charlieās, heās moving Nissan boxes to the Factory during its build by the looks of it. Shifted a few of those while at Fergies Sunderland depot, ironic that we used to just bool in and out of there several times a day when we loaded out of Boro, aswell as Bristol. Later when the Factory was beginning to produce and they got security on it was like Hitlers Bunker trying to go in, I even had bother coming out one day solo, the nugget on the gate insisted I take an empty trailer out with me, āYeah, thatās what Iāve been in for there isnāt any leftā. Wouldnāt believe me and even jumped up onto the motor to stop me driving out, Prat, I just drove off with him hanging onto the wing mirror arm. I got banned from Nissan after that, chuffed! Ronnie Hodgen drove Charlieās Seddon and was most often working with us, an old mate of my Fathers, is Ron still around ā ā ā ā ā I havenāt seen him since giving up driving. Cheers Franky.
Good photo of Charlies Road Train, he was a good pal of mine, We used to do a bit work for Cargotransportes on Newcastle Quayside, that was the late Les Bolam from Wideopen, I also used to see Ronnie sometimes when we were hauling out of Thermalite at Cambios, Happy days Eh, Regards Larry.
Thompsons at work in Ponteland, Regards Larry.
