Found this on the F88 thread this morning. It belonged to Wardles of Haltwhistle, Anybody remember it? Evidently it started life as a 6x4 tractor unit, was stretched to a tipper then stretched again to a 8x4 tipper.
if you go on the car transporter old and new thread on page 7 theres a you tube link to traffic going through glouscester in the 50/60’s.See if anybody recognises the CAPSTAF wagon.

Do you think his is under cover for the Scarlet Pimpernel, ■■?, Mind you his photos a great,Old Roly must be well pleased, Regards Larry
Yeah I agree about his photo’s Larry…great! I drove that Volvo in about 1982 or 3. I quite liked the grain work but I hated the local coal work…talk about rat race.
G.P. is keeping me guessing though…won’t let on who he is.

Just watched that you tube film. Did anyone notice the car transporter loaded with Austin Metropolitans, Jeez they were ugly cars.
And did I see a Whilock “dinkum” digger go past? Drove one of those once too!!
Great film though.
Aye the coal job was a rat race, we used to do a bit For Moody, & Alan James job Brenkley to Bates, the bloody weighbridge men were right awkward gits, 2 onces over your gross & it had to come off. New Moor was the same, I was looking to 5 Loads to Formica a day, which was a decent days work, but they messed about so you only did 4. Drivers had a special name for these geazers, & Im sure you will know what it was, Regards Larry.

I remember doing coal from Banks opencast at Brenkley , can’t remember where it went but we had to weigh at Weetslade screens. It was quite normal for a couple of your loads to be over the top so you just had to climb up and throw off a few big lumps! I went one day and there was a different guy on the weighbridge… I had no overweights that day…he used to ask you for your gross and you would say “thirty, four ninety” (30.490) turned out when we looked at the tickets he had written 34.90…no wonder we weren’t overweight that day!!
I remember there was a nice chap on the weighbridge at Whittle too!
Happy days?? NOT!
H.Nichol Gateshead. This was taken when the Tall Ships Race came to the river first time round 1980s I think.
I shot this pic from a picture on the wall at AS Tyres so the quality isn’t so good. It was given to Alan Symm
by H Nichol so the copyright is his. Ps I hope Alan is going to get some more shots from “H” so that I can
reproduce them on TNUK (withhis permission of course) regards kevmac 47.
