This is the only pic I’ve got of an Albany motor. It belonged to Milky Bar and was taken at the Geordie Truck Show at Witton Castle in the 80s. The kid sitting in it is my lad who is now 36.2
I found this one of John Kerss Services from 1987. I went from a new R112 at Van Hee to this thing, what a come down.1
This 190/30 was the last motor I drove for John Kerss, good puller for a 300hp, with a 13 speed Fuller box in it.0
bri the white belonging to albany motors driven by milky.he would,nt happen to be called bobby brown would he
Following my comment about the ERF van of TT Liiddle. Does anyone remember him running Bedford tippers in the 1950’s
Because of the route he was using and problem with a bridge his journeys were diverted by about a mile and because the customer wouldn’t pay about 1 old penny extra per journey he parked about 30 tippers up at his depot at South stanley. when i was about 8 years old i saw them all lined up until they were eventually sold.
Also when he was bought out by P&O they replaced all his vehicles and build a massive new warehouse on the land behind his existing warehouses and workshops. They were only there a few years and it is now a housing estate.I wonder if anyone can remember why they spent all that money doing that to close down after such a short time

Larry
In the early / mid eighties Jimmy Phillips used to drive a six wheel tipper for us. He was near to retiring then.
I think he was part of the Phillips family you mention. I think he had worked for Crow’s as well

Sorry Gordy69 only knew him as milky bar, no idea what his proper name was. If you trawl through the earlier parts of this thread you’ll find another mention of him with his proper name, but i’ve no idea what page it’s on, sorry.

That was big John McKenna’s Albion, he always parked at White Mare Pool behind the garage. He lived on the Felgate estate so it was quite handy for him. Ps wonder if he’s still around. regards kevmac47
