Do you know what type of wagon it is & the year, its a great photo. I can remember when I first started driving on the Quayside they had a 4wheeler Albion with a wood cab a very old one, I used to see it most days when I was passing the Cooperage on my way to Mansion House Wharf, where now stands The Copthorn Hotel. Regards Larry

Anyone got any photos of Robinsons of Lowfell Transport ? Green Commers , did mostley fruit, they used to do the bannanas Fyfes I think one of their drivers got bitten by a spider the size of a tea cup, gave him a nasty arm for a week or two, they also did work off the Quayside

Another old Gateshead firm Philips of Gateshead Ltd Gray & Red with the RHA logo on the doors, ran a lot Bedfords Ridgeds & Artics with Scammell couplings, mostley local I think.? Regards Larry Any photos out there.

Larry
In the early / mid eighties Jimmy Phillips used to drive a six wheel tipper for us. He was near to retiring then.
I think he was part of the Phillips family you mention. I think he had worked for Crow’s as well

Just been to Barnard Castle truck show - fair play to all the lads, even due to the weather they had all the wagons spotless. Matty wouldn’t buy his own chips though - the tight arse - although he did want a diablo sandwich and a Dr pepper! Also, Brian F7Sidd, your F7’s outstanding. You looked very proud mate, and well you should be. Good luck to all the lads up the show - I didn’t take mine as I was being lazy, sorry!

Cheers Allen, thats the first time ive had anything to show and stay all weekend but what a cracking weekend it was we enjoyed every minute of it, thanks for your kind words of encouragement it makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Hi lads here is some old photos of old lorry firm the quality is not so good, bumper

Good to see you F7Sidd at Barnard Castle truck show. Your F7 looked as if it was the first day out when new. Must have spent bob or two on it.It was good to get behind the wheel as it reminded me of the 2 f7s i had. Great paint job (not over the top) liked the two coloured blue cab. (you know what i mean) You should be proud of “THE MAGNIFICENT 7”. Roy Bisset.

Nice selection Bumper, I remember KOG.236. Dicky Bolam drove it for O&Bs he reckoned it was ex BRS, from Birmingham, it is a Birmingham Reg 1948. He got a brand new AEC 8wheeler Mammoth KCN.18, he was the top man there in those days, oddly enough later on Jimmy Ruff drove it for a long time. Regards Larry PS. had a great night on Sat. Harry;s good crack, see you at the Xmas one.

Hi Bumper

So loverly to see one of Tom Liddle/s ERF Pantechnicons. He ran five of these and for their day they were beautiful vans. I have mentioned these on the W.H.Williams thread. When my father had gone round ERF at sandbach in the late seventies they had a photo of one of these on display, and unfortunatly Tom had then passed away so we couldn’t tell him. Tom Liddle was a perfectionist and it shows in this photo as I suspect the one in the photo that would be registered about 1949 is several years old at the time of photograph

When I was about 5 to 6 years old TT.Liddle and Alfred Bell and of course W.H.Williams (but I’m biased there) had some of the best vans on the road

Best wished

Carl williams

Alfred Bell, thats a blast from the past, they had a depot in Higham Place in Newcastle, then they bought out G ,Watt Transport Ltd at Seaton Burn, were in there some years the moved to bigger premises at Killingworth which is now a cash & carry. A pal of mine sadley no longer with us worked for them, He was one of G,Watts drivers from leaving school, but reckoned the change was for the best, Regards Larry
