Is this the Irvine that had a couple of ■■■■■■ type pick ups ? Regards Larry

Dunno what motors they had but they had a yard on Coopies Lane & I believe they took over what was left of Pentleton & Hare (there was certainly a connection) it was Norman Irving & Alex Scott the hay & straw man, the bank pulled the plug at a bad moment & it folded, still see Alex from time to time & regularly see his son Ian who runs a blue Daf 6 wheeler drawbar

Yes thats who I meant. they pulled trailers with the pick ups, There was a connection with P/H. I heard the VAT man was the one that gave them some grief ? They also ran a yellow 4 wheeler Scania for a while, I think Brian Murdy drove it.Regards Larry.

Didn’t Caledonian take over after that? or am I getting confused?

Danscania:
A Classic Motor still at work every day. Still great to drive. Dan

tyneside:
I think the last motor Robson’s had was an ERF 8 wheel tipper. That must be 20plus years ago now. Any idea if Keith Robson is still around ■■?

Hello tyneside. We have an ex Robsons motor sat in our yard here at Kirkheaton. We bought the AEC Back in the late 80’s to replace our Dodge snow plough. She was only ever used half a dozen times at the most. HAK 928E is the reg number. I’l try and figure out how to post a picture of her. Dan Proudlock

Well thats a blast from the past this AEC used to work out of Tilcons Styford Quarry & was driven by Bob [The Ghost] as he was nicknamed in those days, He also drove a 4 wheeler Thornycroft 1960ish. Reg.TNL or TJR 7 or 9 ? im not sure but a distinctive reg I thought. Robson ran long distance in those days & Bob used to kip quite often on The Coatesgate Cafe lorry park heading for Glasgow. summer or winter Regards Larry.

Finally got this model completed of my Fathers 32:4:220 Rolls engined Seddon Diesel BBB 675J and York 40ft trailer, I only had a small Polaroid pic to go off so most of it is memory and some brochure info and pics of Seddons on this site to see where various components fitted. I can’t remember exactly how many of these units turned up new in 1971, maybe four but I did come across two cabs in Coats scrap yard around 82 and one was from this vehicle, I managed to rescue the Seddon badge from the rad filler cover and still have it. Maybe brings back a few memories for any ex Ouseburn lads.
It hopefully captures the British transport look of the Seventies which was to change in the next decade. Cheers Franky.

nice one franky doe’s jimmy Owens know you do models, recon he’d like one of them, bumper

Great model FD, the detail is great you must get a copyright for it Eh, Cheers Larry, R.U. going to the do ?.

Re. Robsons of Slayley , come on you old drivers , you must rememeber some of the lads that worked there, The Ghost, Darky ? drove the 6 wh. Seddon with sides on. they also ran a 6 wheel Riever, some one on the Quayside bought it, Albert Greenwood fancied it , but he slipped up & he missed, I think it went for £300.00. ? . I cant put a name to who got it, but they ran it for quite a while on long distance… The late Les Bolam used to give them work off the docks.

Anyone remember Segill Haulage ? ran a fleet of orange coloured tippers 50/s they had a yard beside the railway crossing at Seghill had a few S type Bedfords, & some Dodges also Any photos anywhere ?.
