0I know Ive posted these ERFs before, but as they belonged to my great uncle Isaac Smiles. [Smiles for Miles] can anyone tell me anything about West Tyne Gravel ? & where it was , I think it may have been near Acomb, Im sure that is the area. Regards Larry. [Lawrence Smiles Dunbar].
Hi Larry Did you not see my reply some weeks ago , West Tyne Gravel was on the south side of Acomb between the A69 and before you go into Acomb on the left handside of the road, there was a road that you went along is will have gone when the A69 was built Regars Ralph
I must have missed it Ralph, but thank you for the info, I can tell my cousin who lives at Prudhoe, & another one who lives in Canada, as they are both Smiles,s, Regards Larry.

Hi Jim
More of an office job now at the tunnel, never see any driver mates now. Its frustrating at times but its a case of the golden handcuffs. Cant afford to move on been there 17 years now, where has the time gone ?. I see you are still polishing the paint off your truck.ha ha. Always look for you when passing your house, will give you a knock some time for a cuppa…
Take care… Colin

Has anyone got any pictures of Jackie Swinney’s wagons from Great Lumely. I was talking to him a few weeks back and he was asking if anybody had put pictures up of any of his motors.

Jackie Swinney, theres a name from the past. I used to see him in Lumley Brickyard when I worked for Mc Govern’s in the mid 80s. I think he had a 6wheeled LV ERF? regards Kevmac47.

That ERF was an 8wheeler Kev Jackie ran it for years till he replaced it with an 8wheel T45 constructor then finished up with a 6wheeler Daf

Thanks Daz. Nice to know Jackie is still around he was a great character when I knew him. I know he was a good friend of that other well known Lumley resident
Alan O’Hare who was McGovern’s transport manager then. Regards Kev.
