I think you’re right, and I’m sure they were one of the latter ones to come under the P&O banner. Seem to recall they also did traction work for Ferrymasters at Teesport

tyneside:
Hello all

Found these two lists of tipper operators who were RHA members in the Tyneside area. List is from approx 1963. Some of them still operating today but some of them long gone and forgotten

Falcon Transport on the second list, would that be the same Falcon Transport that had a garage at Highfield, Rowlands Gill?
Used to run a couple of 4 wheel Dodge’s in the mid 70’s if its the same one.

Used to help out Haleys now & then when on for Collinson Bros they had a job From Blyth To Lafarge West Thurrock, some sort of aluminuim powder & when it was on had to be moved straight away so would be on the job for a couple of weeks. After they were bought out by Pandora the Tanker lads from Felling had to go & help out with the powder & used to hate it, bit different tipping this stuff than liquid, it was a fine heavy powder & you couldnt rush it & had to keep a constant eye on it.
The driver in the blue Daf looks like Nosher drove for Haley quite a few yrs, think he`s just packed in as he drove for Wrights at Tow Law

Hello, Volvo F10 TFT 497Y numbers might be wrong may have been 397, there used to be an F7 with a strange exaust that stuck above the roofline, we used to call it the flying fishshop and the janker mobile as it was horrible as a sleeper and it was alledged you only got it if you were out of favour. your dear old dad once sacked me cos I reversed into the fuel pump island with a loaded trailer and burst a supersingle on the trailer. I was only a boy then and wouldnt say sorry so that was that. I went back on the skips then back on the artics a little later. He may remember, happy days.
What happened to the fleet

Kenny, Do you remember a lad from Haley’s who joined the police? The last time I spoke to him he was working part time for Kent Connection after retiring from the rozzers as a desk sgnt in N/cle. can you recall his name? regards kevmac47.

hi gazzad
bob did have a man 22.321 tractor unit and his own step frame tilt trailer. drove it a couple of times bu cant remember it having a high roof iirc it had a wind deflector fitted. last time i was talking to him he had to sell up as he hurt his back when he fell off the tilt trailer in italy and had to be airlifted home and had to get his vehicle recovered. dont think he is doing anything at the moment.
mick

heres some for oldsid and gurty…

Heres two shots taken of yours truly 38yrs apart although the vehicle are of a similar vintage. The little girl in my arms in the Atki shot is the mother of the little girl in the Erf shot. Go on say it I look exactly the same. :unamused: :unamused:
