Hi Wingnut,
That shot of the 657 brings back some memories,i used to work for Gorrills Tyres who then became NTS and was based at Derek Crouch at Radar site at Widdrington as their tyre fitter on 657 and Muir Hill also the Cat dumpers came off there and into the remould factoy at Wylam to work on the repairs that i used to send down.
left there and joined ATS working on fleet at Waugh’s and CRS based at Prudhoe took my class 1 through Waugh’'s and started driving Ahh the good old days.
Regards
Mick.
When you were slim young and handsome Mick!! just like me. regards Kev.
hiya,
There was/is a recovery outfit on Tyneside can’t remember where they was based but were regularly seen dragging poorly motors up the A1 can’t remember what the motor was, the company was Albany I think and the “recoverer” was very quick my memories of one occasion when tootling along at about 60 mph was being passed by this motor with I think a fully freighted Waugh’s on the hook he must have been doing at least 70 are they still in business??, seem to think they was Gateshead based the outfit was i think a nice green and cream colour but the make escapes me.

This is the only pic I’ve got of an Albany motor. It belonged to Milky Bar and was taken at the Geordie Truck Show at Witton Castle in the 80s. The kid sitting in it is my lad who is now 36.
