Hi Brian.i,m sitting at Haltwhistle catching up on the last few weeks somebody 2 pages ago was on about CAB PLANT at Birtley when i worked for Stuart Hedges from Seaham we moved to Cowpen Ind Est and the 1st wagon he bought down there was their red 1418 with a step frame. it had a winch on it so we started doin recovery work the unit had a 5ton block put on it to tow coal screens then it was scrapped about 1984 just as i started for the glass company.IT WAS A CRAPPY WAGON TO DRIVE BUT IT HAD A GREAT BUNK
Hi Jeff, that was me and your right it was a crappy wagon to drive, it was in fairly good nick but wouldn’t pull you out of that bunk in the morning! Fortunately I was mostly doing local, the gaffer at Cabplant had ideas of doing more general work but he didn’t have a clue so it never really came off and I went back to Van Hee. So the old girl was scrapped, oh well she had probably done her bit. Cheers for the update, Franky.
Was at the funeral of Jacki Robson yesterday Jeff the lad that was killed in the Hargreaves moter down in Fishburn 7wks ago .Had a pint with Alan Morrison & sweethart Colin never seen them for a few yrs
Night Shift Bri I had a go at the C reg 6 wheeler Seddon early 70’s with a perkins engine in it and before that was the ancient 4 wheeler with TARDIS painted down the radiator, running about Sunderland with Domtar paper. The seddon loaded at Domtar, Liners, Jennings winch all for the south then loading back from Reeds papermill, Kent.
Hi Guys
Here’s a picture of my 11 year old FH. I’ve tried uploading photos before but it’s always come up with an error so have got my wife to have a go. Let’s see if it works! Just tried one for now. Hopefully get a scanner this weekend as have loads of old photos to upload - mint site, love it to bits! My wife is now a TruckNet widow (you can tell she’s writing this though as I don’t type as good as she does!)

Hi Wingnut,
That shot of the 657 brings back some memories,i used to work for Gorrills Tyres who then became NTS and was based at Derek Crouch at Radar site at Widdrington as their tyre fitter on 657 and Muir Hill also the Cat dumpers came off there and into the remould factoy at Wylam to work on the repairs that i used to send down.
left there and joined ATS working on fleet at Waugh’s and CRS based at Prudhoe took my class 1 through Waugh’'s and started driving Ahh the good old days.
