hiya,
Going South on the A1 one morning in the mid 70s i was overtaken by one of Taxi Freight’s little flying machines there was smoke coming from the sheet on the nearside i tried to give him the lights to let him know he may have a problem but no response just after i pulled in for a swig from my flask to get me to Norman’s and roll a couple of tabs, only parked about five minutes then back underway, got as far as the “long wall” and there’s the T F motor burnt out completely and the fire brigade not yet in attendance must have been only a quarter of an hour since a little bit of smoke to a complete burn out, wonder what they carried that was so inflammable, but those tiny motors could really go, maybe it was friction or a ■■■ end thrown out of the top of a bus.
thanks harry long retired.

get under the mattress you,ll not miss it you and your lad are Birtleys answer to Alan Suger & Richard Branson   I saw sean twice today on the A1 flashed but he was miles away or ignoring me

Ah cheers for the reply Mark, Knight Berkley!, I was fitting for them for a little while before going back to Van Hee, so they must have had the Strato’s after I left, we had 301’s and 401’s with Iveco’s too when I was there. Maybe Ouseburns Strato reg was similar and registered at the same time, just can’t remember the numbers but definately an SRG, thought that was it though. Could kick myself for not taking photo’s during my early career and as a lad, good job others on here have.
Cheers again Franky.

I took these shots last week in E&N Ritchies yard at Hetton-le-Hole. This little steamer is magnificent and the conversion on the 814 merc that carries it around is superb. My pictures don’t do justice to the quality of the engineering.
