What’s the story behind the Eiger Racing trailer behind Simpson’s FM Marcus22? The reason I’m asking is that it’s been parked in Fergies yard at Washington for the last two years and doesn’t seem to have turned a wheel in that time.
hello brian
not sure about the trailer richard minto gave me the photo , will ask him or maybe F7sidd knows a bit more about it.
i recognise that blue FH in the background parked at Newburn it belonged to schofields (DCB) of Leeds there were 8 of us from the north east drove for them in the early 90s doing poundstretchers nationwide 5 nights out every week unless you got home after a scotch on a dodgy canny job.
Question for Marcus22, the Strato you drove for Chris and Jimmy on page 79, has a familiar Reg No G210 SRG, I’m sure it was the reg of the Strato Ouseburn Tpt ran while I was there and until they went bust. Cliff Natton, a long serving Steenburgs/Ouseburn driver, drove the unit and I happened to drive it too when Cliff was on holiday, a change from my B Reg 401 but I did think mine had a more comfortable bed, always important! A nice motor the Strato though and it had no problems as I recall fully freighted. I may be wrong about this registration but its unusual for me to have some bells ringing about something then find no connection.
I’m racking my brains to remember the exact dates I was at Ouseburn, mid 90’s I think. Do you know the history of the Seddon, either before or after you had it. Cheers Mark, Franky.
they would have still been tidy motors if they got them after jimmy hunter.
mark
he alwayst had the cleanest wagon and trailer in the fleet i remember when he had that roadhaus and truck magazine were doing an article and they wanted jimmys truck in it the photographer was waiting nearly all day for him to finish cleaning it he’s a bit of a perfectionist every picture you’ve put on the site from jimmy is immaculate he must spend more time cleaning then actually grafting.
Brian. I spoke to Cliff Robson today,(is that him with the hair and the dog?) He is
going to look out some more pics to post. I have been asking him to do this for a while
so this might jog his memory, Poor lad he is getting on a bit so he might need some
stimulation!!! this could be it.
Hello Matty, not sure if the trailboss drove for Rispin, Derek Wright wrote that reiver off at the cross roads at Crawcrook doing the waste sand job from Ryton sand & gravel to Burnhills tip, thats prob what it was doing when that photo was taken at the store corner.Derek and Mick Wright drove the 2 constructors and used to park them behind the temp at Greenside.
Kevmac47 heres another one of Robsons,i think this was the last one Colin drove

Does anyone remember Darlington Charter Freight. Back in the 80’s I recall they did a lot of work for Ferrymasters (white and maroon mercs I think) and am sure they became part of Target Express Parcels group
Where is this Baxters photo Lawrence, i can’t find it. My old man drove for Baxters and Smiles for Miles in the 50s,Bob Casey.
