Looks like real cameraderie at Glendenning, did you talk to each other down the road?
no,jeff knows i’m only joking,it was a bloody good job at glennys nowhere near a good paying job,but certainly agreat bunch of of lads to work with,until shotley closed ,then there seemed to be a mass exodus.we could’nt stand being based at durham,i remember one day i was on service my wagon was pulled out of the garage so that they could service a bloody horse box,that would have been down to gordon glendinning,then things just got worse,i’m sure if shotley was still open we might still be there.
Buzza, the clue is in the name…! Its hardly going to be young man John is it?

How many horse box trucks did Glendinning run?
Twinsplitter, that will have been a vehicle that they were servicing for an outside company, they never operated horse boxes.

he did’nt run any horseboxes,the point was he’d chuck his own wagons out to do private work.
Sure the 4 wheeler box was used on Moores Furniture job,was fitted with a taillift, body was taken
off and a platform body fitted,one of two Sed Atkinson 200 series on the road at that time.
One only one TM, as for the tippers,1 x 6 wheel ERF
5 x 8 wheel ERF’s
1 x 8 wheel Foden .

Hi George There was only one TM, it was used as a shunter in Wavin. There was a few ERF 8 wheeler tippers in fact the first B series 8 wheeler was one of the first B series built and the first in the North East, They produced 8 wheelers before the tractor units. ERF took several photos of this truck tipping in Consett and used them as publicity.
Thanks, there was was a picture of one of their ERF B series 8 wheel tipper on here but I can’t find it (Edit see previous post), I also remember them having a Seddon Atkinson 4x2 rigid boxvan.

Aye that was a problem there Glenny. Mind you would have to be nuts to leave your vehicle in their yard. He allegedly used to nick all the bits off them!!
I remember hearing about him swapping alloys with his own vehicles or even swapping an interier out of a customers new Fiesta with his daughters old Fiesta. He even used to rifel through our cabs on a weekend!

Glenny54, please can you translate posts by Buzza. Because Billy Buzza’s input so far to this forum has been invaluable

Uncle Fuzz, PPE, is a health and safety term for boots, high vis, hat etc.
In simple terms…
P = Personal
P = Protective
E = Equipment
Hopefully that clears the matter up for you. Ps who is Bob W ?
