Aye that was a problem there Glenny. Mind you would have to be nuts to leave your vehicle in their yard. Gordon Glendinning used to nick all the bits off them!!
I remember hearing about him swapping alloys with his own vehicles or even swapping an interier out of a customers new Fiesta with his daughters old Fiesta. He even used to rifel through our cabs on a weekend!

Tango is gg still under lock and key??

According to an earlier post he is, but I have not seen Gordon Glendinning for years, what have you heard Buzbie?

There was a Truck magazine article about Glendinnings around 1992-94 it would be good if someone would post it on here.
You have a good memory it was an artical that Bob Tuck wrote on ERF E8s, got a copy somewhere. Bob Tuck used to work at Glendinnings around 1967 as second man on a drawbar transporter, I am talking proper drawbars with a turntable not the sissy centre axle ones you get today!! He then joined the police and worked his way up Inspector I think, at one time he had a load of tramsporters put off the road for length and other infringements. His Dad also drove for Glendinnings around the same time.
George king asked me to re upload these from another thread:
These are photos I’ve bought, if anyone objects I’ll remove them…
This is a photo of a photo which George Richardson had on the dash of the wrecker last I saw it so excuse the poor quality
And this was listed on Ebay by Gordon a year or two back, reg M536JFT:

I remember that article now, it was a good few pages long with plenty of pictures. It was from an operators point of view, not drivers, on the E8 and featured Ken Glendinning and his foreman George Richardson.
Would be great if someone could dig it out.

It had a photo of both K + G Glendinning, it mentioned that they had 75 vehicles at the time.
I’ve noticed that they ran a lot of DAF’s and Ivecos in later years how many of these makes did they have?
I have also seen some Renaults and Mercedes transporters.

Both these E8 were based away, one in Bridgewater and the other at the Stoke on Trent depot.
Can you sort the sizes out on that article transporterman? Whatever you’ve used to upload it has resized it, can’t read it

If you hold down “Ctrl” control you are able to alter the size by rotating the wheel on your mouse

One of their most interesting vehicles I remember, was the 6x4 ERF B Series, that had a 2 car trailer on the back. Definately a one off and something you are never likely to see again. The picture I recall showed it running coal in the tipper and 2 x MGBs on the trailer. I remember reading it was used on long distance runs to Oxford and the idea was to minimise empty mileage. Think this was before the unions.
Maybe Consettbell has a picture of it?
