Carnt remember when this photo was taken or much about there names but i am sure someone on here will know them, regards mick.
Hi Brothertonmick, are you the lad that used to take the pics at Norman’s and had them pinned up on the walls? I don’t suppose you’ve got any of Clark’s Haulage red and silver motors from Sunderland that you could post on here, or any Les Samson Scanias or John Kerrs Services blue and white Iveco’s.Cheers

The lad on the left is Bob Aitchison, can’t place the lad in the middle, don’t think its Jinksy, Bob and him were good mates and know the third on the right but the names dissapeared unfortunately. No doubt others will know all three, some good pics keep popping up on this thread well done Bri for starting it. Cheers Franky.

PHILBUTLER:
Rob Kelly now works for the Co-operative RDC at Drum Est , Birtley. He and his wife used to run the Coach and Horses pub at wrekenton, not too long ago. He had a bit of a heart scare a few months ago, but he’s still driving Artics and Rigids. He did mention that one of his customers went belly up without paying him, and therefore he himself went to the wall.
A good grafter but doesnt suffer fools gladly, and he has had many a run in with some lazy drivers at co-op, who don’t pull their weight!.Phil.
Good to know he is ok, his work ethic hasn’t changed over all the years I’ve known him. Give him my regards. kevmac47.

Bewick:
This shot is for you ex Waugh drivers and shows how ONL 482M was left to rot by the WRM crew! I believe when it was disposed off they just put the jumper leads on her and she cracked up!!
Definitely looks as if seen better days Bewick, didnt realise you grow your own tyres “out west”, regards Kevin.

Mark hope this is what you have been wanting. the photo was take on the Team Valley in the late 70’s when the lorry driver of the year used to be held there. I can remember the 88 but without its ‘drag’ being in the same class as my dads Scammell Routeman.

Think this truck is parked in a farm shed at kildale.Farmer told me his son is going to restore it. That was about 2yrs ago, never went back but seem to remember it being this colour and a 6 wheeler
heres a photo of yours truly leaving shotley bridge yard for the last time when it closed i think it was 2000.

Hello “bowserman” Thanks for that that info on ■■■■ T he also has two brothers Bob, who changed his name and became a well known entertainer on the local club scene, and Alan, who was transport manager for Miles Druce Metals of Hebburn in the late 60s ealy70s, whom ive never heard of since the day I stopped working for them. I do remember the first stop after leaving the yard was always the "White Mare Pool"cafe for breakfast and a natter. This was also the last drop of the day on the way back and at 3pm the park would be full of drivers telling tall tales of a rough day. Happy days!!! regards kevmac47
