off thread a bit , but what is all this "last stop at 3pm " , were you on part time ? we were lucky to get home for 7pm & that was from a 4am start . i was obviously working for the wrong firm !! cheers , dave

It was a steel stockholder so not the pressure of earning revenue,I must say it was very good job at the time, but I was drawn by the “glamour” HAHA!!! of journey work on a regular basis.(I was only 23 so didn’t no any better).Thats my excuse and I’m sticking to it. Oh to turn back the clock!!! kevmac47

here’s a couple of photos of granville bells 142,about1987,i had it for a couple of weeks when my little 92 was unwell.
the tautliner was one of ronnie tailfords,at coca cola at east kilbride.what a s!!!hole that place was.

I see they are putting pilings in or doing something with CPS’s old yard, don’t know what they are intending to put there. My Brother in Law drove for them up to and after the Crawford take over, not sure if he’s still there, don’t think he was keen on the Crawford operation. When I was at Dumfries a couple of weeks ago a lad in the ladder factory I done my course at came from Sanquar and knew some of the drivers as he worked in the factory there. Small world in the haulage game. Cheers Franky.

These pics brings back some good memories of working at the paintshop before i left in 1989 to work for York Trailers which was starting production of Fridge trailers next door at Harelaw Stanley.

Living in Trimdon since 1994,grew up in stockton on tees,lived near J Williamson haulage contractor,i remember Broughs of Hartlepool,phil Allick of Middlesbrough haulage contractor and fruit and veg merchant,Peacocks haulage Blakeston lane ,F & F Robinson yarm lane,remember A V Dawson when they ran old Atkis,Blythmans of Bishopton,D Seaton when they used to run guy big j eight wheelers out of Harker Engineering stockton,great memories.

Not as good a paint job as later years.
