hiya,
Jim I did drive an elderly 8 legged Atkinson very similiar in appearance to this old girl but a full screen, that i’m pretty certain it had vaccuum brakes only braking on three axles, only ever drove it solo but you needed a furlong to stop the thing, on second thoughts it may have been air assisted braking, did’nt like it remember the reg was three letters then three numbers it was a relic from the mid 50s.
thanks harry long retired.

Bumper,
Just had it checked, by my dad that in 1934 Armstrong Saurer’s registered office was on Scotswood road. The information you wanted about Ford truck dealers in Newastle around the 50’s is as follows:-

RH Pattersons,Forth Street,Newcastle
Strakers,Melbourne Street area,Newcastle
Davidsons,Nth Shields.

Without seeing the photo of the AVK registered Armstrong Saurer, dad thinks it was there demonstrator which was sold to P G Walton.

HARGREAVES TIPPERS

Which Gateshead Haulage firm used to use this yard until the late 70’s, where the above photo was take in Low Fell?

What about Tremble scrap and demolition at Benton any one remember the green Foden with the big ■■■■■■■
in it, and the Italian low loader it used to pull with 2 thousand wheels ( not that many really) which if i remember all steered
it was a excellent bit of kit at the time early 1970`s.
