When i worked for R&R Hands we used to tip at Armstrongs at Rowlands Gill early mornings and there was often a Paul Hodgson scania artic tipping there, would that of been you. And the last few weeks i worked there i was taking fly ash from alcan to Little Broughton Maryport and back loading sand from Armstrongs quarry at Overby Aspatria, I enjoyed doing that job.

yeh that would be my artic but i drive a scania 6 wheeler

In Armstrongs colours, yes i remember that one

420 in a 6 wheeler that must be some tool,am i right in thinking the one you had before that was in Armstrongs colours. I was always fond of the scania i had at Tulips, we used to tip at Armstrongs when i worked there, we also did alot of runs over to the west with brewers grains and fly ash for the wind farm on the cliff tops at Parton Whitehaven

Sid, looking back at the Tulip pics there is a shot of skip motor painted in topmix colours. I worked at tarmac as an O/D at that time and I think it was driven by a lad called Derek am I right■■? I do remember it was alway spotless. I think “Adolph Tarmac” told Tulip to repaint the vehicle as it wasn’t a contract motor. Regards Kevin.

Hello kev
Yes your correct, Derek Wright, drove the skip wagons that Tulips had on the topmix job out of Sprinwell, Derek came to R&R Hands to drive the block wagon after that then on to Armstrongs when they got shot of the contract hauliers.
