Frankydobo:
F7Sid, have you got any pics of Anthony Mole’s or Blacketts tippers, cheers Franky.
Ive only got this one of Blacketts
The old Blacketts was just along the road from Waugh’s yard when they had the dark blue/purple
colour they had a nice 110/111 Scania that used to pull the low loader always thought they looked better in the darker colour.
Here’s a few pics I took at the lorry museum at Shildon a few years back. It’s well worth a visit, just round the corner from the railway museum which is also worth seeing. Just follow the signs for Dabble Duck Industrial Estate.
Borrowed this pic of one of Watson’s TK’s off the Bedford thread and it set me thinking of all the parcel firms that used to operate in the North East before DHL & TNT cleaned up. Atlas Express, Wilkinsons, National Carriers and of course BRS Roadline and their Noddy Vans. There must have been many more. Anybody remember them or have any pics or memories?
The mechanic:
Bri, was Watsons part of Tayforth Group.
hiya,
Always good safe parking when on a dodgy from Consett depot and never any questions asked and easy to get back to in the morning made a few bob out of that one and just far enough to make it “legal” with a bit of logsheet engineering.

hello mark pass the new freeways yard all the time wos just talking about stan the other day the last tyre i changed by the side of the road was giving him a hand just before the split for normans happy days when drivers gave a ■■■■ cheers
hiya,
Remember one of Glenny’s drivers overnighting at Norman’s i was there the same night, this lad was going home empty with a brand new trailer he parked up with the back end to the A1 when we was ready for the off next morning there had been four of the Glenny’s drivers trailer wheels pinched four brand new Michelin’s fortunately al lthe wheelnuts was there so we sorted him out to run home on singles on both axles, the rearmost wheels was clear of the ground where he parked and being empty they would have had no problem doing the deed from the hard shoulder of the A1 without being noticed, i’ll bet Old Archie gave the lad a right earful (for the want of better terminology) when he rolled that one in the yard.
