can you identify these ones, found them in amongst the photos
hi oldbugger and harry gill
gradys tankers of which there were a lot more than tippers, did indeed carry the waste slurry from coal washing sites in north east mainly from collierys but derwenthaugh coke works had a washery
it was gravity tipped down old mine shafts and even into the sea at Dawdon you had to go past seaham harbour to get to the tipping point
the main sites were westoe colliery south shields, wearmouth colliery, murton and herrington
there was even a washery at the morrison ■■■■■
(before the pits closed they had a fleet of 45 vehicles and 25 trailers of which 12-15 were tippers)
so you werent drunk harry!!

Anyone remember or have any photos of shaw’s of shildon , they used to have the expamet contract , my old man used to do a changeover down at leicester on a night and bring back normally a trailer loaded with thermalite bricks usually for a builders merchant at gateshead stadium.
Also im sure someone out there will know my old man , he is a hgv fitter by trade for over 50 years , served his time at siddle cooks , wright and andersons , and has worked for Pickfords heavy haul Birtley , Brs on the valley, ramage (3 times) , van hee , and many many others , he was quite infamous , usually for the wrong reasons

hi youngtrucker what was your dads name, van hee seemed to have a problem with keeping fitters ,had some good fitter on the job, but they all seemed to move on after awhile, most probably because of the foreman fitter.
