hello nightshift bri ,
i was talking to a lad the other day at rth-lubbers yard said his father and grand father used to drive for fergies, turned out he was tommy dodds son, he has not been long started for rth-lubbers, his dad works for matheweus the belgian company, he has a lot of old photos of fergies what he is going to put on here.thanks
mark
I remember “Young Tommy” working for Fergies in the early 80’s, used to drive a 6 wheel MAN tractor then a Roadtrain. His father worked for Fergies as well,I believe he was an owner driver before that. In those days Fergy had Blyth sewed up, nowt went out on anything but a red & blue trailer but I don’t think they do anything out of there now, in fact they havn’t even got a depot in Blyth now. That was when Fergusons was a proper company. Micky Beer the union man retired earlier this month after over thirty years service and never got a thank you or anything, just parked his motor, hung his keys up and went home. That seems to be the way of things nowadays, the longer you work for a firm the less they think of you.

Good morning “night shift bri”,do you remember a guy from Smith & Dixons called John Perne ?(not sure about the spelling) I used to see him a lot in Domtar,he was quite a character. Back to “fergy” Derek Scullion started at Waughs around the same time I did (1972) he is still at “fergy,s due to retire next year I,would bet he’ll get the same “golden handshake” as Micky. Merry Xmas to all . PS I had to get up early to see what santa had left me, sad"B” arn’t I ?
john perne passed away a few years ago, i worked with him at spoors.he was a proper old school driver
