They would have had around 140 lorries in the mid 70s one of the top hauliers in the UK. Archie used to drink a lot over in a pub called the Workings Mens Club in Maryport ■■■■■■■ at that time, never realised he was difficult to work for.

Great pics from Witton Castle, iirc that smart F88 belonged to an OD. Last time I saw it was round the back of Volvo at Washington looking proper sorry for itself. Has nobody got any pics or tales from Redpaths of Wooler or Bells of Ashington who were both swallowed up by the mighty “F Troop” from Blyth, or what about the James Gang from the same neck of the woods?

mine and andrewV8s great grandad started sometime pre 1920s with a horse n cart in crook county durham in the 60s we had 14 trucks a funeral and taxi buisnes with 3 yards when our grandad and his brother was running it the trucks were mostly coal that was the norm around here and the trucks went plain clothed in the miners strike of the 80s then with the end of coal we went into flatbed haulage ending in 1996 with my old 7.5t MAN

thats because there are a few ex lincoln drivers work there(macams) who get lost in the yard. so if you see 2 or 3 together flat out chances are its a macam chasing a geordie cos he hasnt a clue where hes going
hiya,
Can anyone remember a tipper company at Shotley Bridge only had 4 or 5 motors but always seemed busy beige coloured i think, the yard was on the main rd in the village itself.
