HIi lads. SAM i think it would be Andy Mitchell he worked for s-c-cook then elddis, Joe devie was another siddle’s lad that went to elddis, Joe is still at it full time, but Andy only works a couple of days local, there was a few haulage outfits from ponteland area, harry there is still some of Mcphee drivers admittedly they were the younger drivers, trevor turnbull george foster, john patterson, chris can you rember when they found that body in the storage tank at vela liquids, :unamused: :unamused: bumper

hiya,
Yes Bumper remember the body in the tank it was a long time later when they lifted a coloured guy and charged him with murder, saw one of Hoult’s this morning when going into Newcastle thought they was gone doing my regular visit to the RVI use the bus it’s easier than finding somewhere to park and the bus pass makes it for nothing.
thanks harry long retired.

Hiya Bumper and Harry. I’d come off tankers then and never knew anything about it until somebody on here told me. Apart from bodies in tanks Velva was a good place to load, especially their S.Shields site and there were some good digs and a good boozer close by.Bit draughty loading in winter though  Harry we were on about Youngs from Leadgate and there is a photo of an F86 and drawbar in Classic Commercials,I remember seeing it quite regularly. It was classed as a Young Mk1 by the Ministry because Youngs had cut the chassis behind the second axle, making it a 4-legger from a six. Unless I’ve missed it on here who was the haulier from Medomsley?

hiya,
Drove the sleeper cabbed F88 DPT 472 but it was painted blue when i had it it spent more time over the pit than on the road, notice the top of the screen wipers air operated and they used to fall in bits when travelling you had to carry a baccy tin full of cotter pins and split pins just to keep on working i think the farthest i ever got with that old girl without needing asststance was Doncaster BRS depot but it was still a nice motor to drive.
thanks harry long retired.
