HI HARRY CANT BE MANY OLD SIDDLE COOK MEN ABOUT NOW I WAS THERE WHEN THE CALLY TOOK OVER THE COMPANY I HAVE AN OLD FLEET LIST WHEN I GET MY SCANNER SET UP I WILL PUT IT ON THE SITE
hiya,
Hello MT there are still one or two old Cookies men knocking about, but as you say getting a bit thin on the ground, I never worked for Siddle myself it was Road Services Tyne Tees when i started there but my old F88 was still decorated as a Cally motor there was still quite a few of the old staff there when "Cookies BRS"shut up shop, they moved on to Elddis or Gallaghers i myself didānt fancy going into the āprivate sectorā and moved to the local Water Company and if i went over twenty miles doing for them it was classed as long distance and no tachoās just the old log book, in fact they still use them, it was a bit strange at first being home every night but i quickly adapted.

hauliers from the north east, how about , Freeman Volker & Stuart ,from Stockton-On-Tees,Prestons of Potto,
Dinky Davis, from Bishop Aucland, and Ellis Transport of Little Benton, Newcastle, and also Crow Carriers (tankers)
just a few, REDNECK,ā¦
Gibbons Northern Brick based at Throckley brickworks then taken over by Steetley since taken over many times drove for them for many years.
Nice to see Alfie Ellis remembered by another, Redneck. Some more, Associated Lead, Armstrong Cork, Dents of Spennymoor, Durham Chemicals, Gardner Bros, R Rankin (tankers), Redpath Bros, Rutherford Bros, F & F Robinson, they aquired one of the ten built unique Foden 8 wheeler and single axle trailer outfits called the āTwin loadā, Smiles āfor Milesā, W McGovern (bricks), Iāll try and think of more. Franky.
I have thought of another NE haulier "Crook & Willington " I think from Bishop Auckland but could be Tow Law and one of Siddle C Cook drivers Andy who had one of the Super Hippoās he then started for Elddis on a F88 but this was over 30 years ago since I last saw him.
A bit out of town but what about Ridleys from Allendale with red wagons and was it Crawfords from Haltwhistle? - anyway blue wagons I think, their yard was near a cafe on the A69 going towards Brampton. There was another haulier from Ponteland but I canāt recall the name.
Harry, you are right about that lot from Bedlington with tippers - James was it,they ran at max warp and I never saw one parked up either (probably 'cos I didnāt park up much mesen)
Have Burn Brothers been mentioned and Simpsons from Stocksfield and there was another from Rookhope Co Durham.
