Hi prattman i,m having trouble with the broadband up at Eyemouth, but can answer your questions , regards servo88
I knew Les Ellerby very well he,s been dead a long time, his son Peter took over but he went belly up. Alan Simpson haulage long gone, Kenny correct about Tony Easthaugh, he had one son and two daughters. One was married to a relation of Wards Plant Hire from Meadowfield, but he was working at a Cemex Quarry repairing some plant machinery and was killed. Wards was prosecuted by Health and Safety for a about £250,000 over it. Mansell Maddison well the wife and i was in the cemetery at Stanhope 2 week a go and i was reading his headstone now thats a coincidence eh. Well when Banks came to Tow Law they set away with 3 old 8 wheeler Atki,s, Kenny Thompson drove one, i often have a bit of crack with him. He,s retired now but still does odd days for them if they are a driver short. I was in Drysdale haulage yard at Cocksburnpath on sunday, you,d have been in your ellement there with your camera. regards servo88

Hiya,
Can never understand why the “The Geordie Truckers” died out, although not a member
myself I used to enjoy a day out at Witton and it was always a good turn out and I knew
quite a lot of “exhibitors” myself still being on active service during it’s lifespan.
thanks harry, long retired.

I think the reason it died out was, not enough volunteers to do the organising and running of the show. I know Kenny Wright, Maurice Jarvis and the rest of the crew were overwhelmed with all the admin, H&S, etc. As well as having to make a living. Regards Kev.

Same to you as well Larry, great shot of Smilers Trader, brings tears to the eyes it really does,I could just fancy my chances on that motor!! were they double drive or maybe trailing axle with eaton 2 speed ? 14 ton would make them work hard I guess but if you wen’t canny and remembered they weren’t a Foden or Atky they would do the job steady away eh! Cheers Dennis.
Hi servo 88
Here’s a photo of John Suddes E.R.F. when he was pulling for Blue Circle I think he said when the cement works closed he was going to pack in, is he still around?, also I have posted two night time shots the first one I took in 2004 and it was the truck I was driving at the time a 7.5 ton DafLF taken underneath Penshaw Monument the other one I can’t remember where that came from so cannot divulge any information on it. regards prattman.
