Hi f troop,
Did Fred do a bit for James seem to remember him having one of their Spanish dodge’s mite be wrong?
Hi kev,
Fred doesn’t get very far now his family drops him off at the bar and picks him up , he’s 73 either this month or next and has not been in the best of health for quite some time now. .
Regards Daveymk.
Hello Daveymk,
Your memory is still good,Fred did drive one of the Spanish Dodges for Theo James, olso i think the late Bob Dunn [RIP] drove one too,
I beleive he then went on to drive for Tommy Dodds, then to Fergusons when Fergusons took over Dodds Transport.
Regards
F Troop.
Hi F Troop
I am new on here,I used to travel with Bobby Dunn during the school holidays from 1980 onwards
So i got to know a lot of Fergie drivers when he was there.
Freddy and Bobby when they were at James were nicknamed the terrible twins as they often ran together and had more than a laugh.Bob used to say the Spainish Dodge’s were flying machines nowt could catch them.
Its great to see the old photos as it brings back some good memories. Is young Tommy Dodds on here as i remember him with his grandad and dad.
cheers
Stephen

Hello young man,
Im sure the photo was taken at Wallsend in 1977 on a sunday morning, the 1418 was new to Tommy Dodds, one of the last 1418 s. We ran 14 1418 mercs and had good service out of them with few problems but underpowered. They were the first mercs in the fleet and olso the first sleeper cabs, the reg of the 1st merc was PTY204M driven by Vince Billham [RIP].
Bell Trucks at Bedlington gave us excellent Service on the Mercs and just being 2 mile away was another plus point.
