Old Hull Haulage companys

Who runs the tankers out of Woodbrow’s old yard at Triangle/North Cave? Keep meaning to pull in and have a look on a weekend as there always seems to be a decent crop of old but smart trucks (142s/143s etc) in there

Tony Ogden used to be a fitter at MAT / Woodbrow, he remained there on his own afterwards and runs some tidy old stuff Kev. I think he would let you have a look around, he is normally kicking about.

Paul Leighton, ex Woodbrow, MAT and Middlegate works for him.

Cheers! There are pics of Ogden’s old 142 knocking about on here - has he still got the same truck?

I’ve moved to North Ferriby now, so will endeavour to pop in as I’m passing

Hi Nick. I think tony Ogden hauls molasses often see him on the 180 heading into immingham.

dropped by the yard a couple of Sundays ago, but it was locked up. This was the only pic I could get, so will have to try again!

a little bit off topic, but probably the best place to post this. If you fancy having a look at the new FH, it’s going to be at Crossroads Hull on Thursday November 8th.

Crossroads Hull will now have the new FH series on site on the 8th November.
Call 01482 781831 for further information - or see you there any time between 9am and 2pm

Someone mentioned that Simon Gibson already has his.

not seen it, but they’re pulling one of his trailers on this tour from some of the pics I’ve seen on twitter etc

My Grandad Ken Downs, this pic used to be stuck up in his truck hence the quality lol
This was the last new truck he received before retirement, I was well chuffed when he got the 1625(everbody else had 1619s) until i got to the yard and saw that one of the other drivers had got a 1628 with the larger cab and twin bunks :frowning:

I remeber Blackeys having the longest non trombone trailer in the east riding. And the ten bob a tone roundabout is known by everyone who ran into Hull. I worked for Mat transport and ran out of MIFT in Manchester but spent a lot of time in Hull. We used to have our motors serviced on nights and used to stop in digs run by Archie Pace, I saw him on here last week. Hull was alive with hauliers back then and the fish trade was just in decline. I worked for Mat for 13 years and still have great memories of nights out in Hull going to Rayners, the Monkey bar and the Earl-de-Gray.

No doubt you were looked after in Rayners by this lady who has just shuffled off.

Wheel Nut. Thanks for the press cutting abot Flo from Rayners. Everyone knew Flo and for all the right reasons, sorry to see she has gone. Her son used to play the drums in Rayners along with an organist.

Hullo Cliff,

I’ve got a photo somewhere of Clarise, Johnny Mac, Trevor Tuckey, Gordon Nunn and myself with Flo. If I can lay hands on it when I get home in March, I shall put it on the MAT thread.
Cheers, Archie.
ps. As I remember Clarise’s son used to like to play with Organs.
