I know Chris Webb will be interested in the Blundells picture as he has asked several times about them
Aye,Blundell-Permoglaze was a regular drop when I was on tankers. I think Blakey ran a London trunk out of there - well I think it was Blakeys.
Storey Smithson rings a bell,I’m sure I’ve delivered there, but can’t think where they were.
Storey Smithsons were in Beverley

There was Hodgsons Tannery in Beverley and Holmes Hall Tanners in Hull. Hodgsons Tannery closed down but continued as Hodgson Chemicals for some years longer, all sadly demolished and houses built today. It thrived because of the local waterway known as Beverley Beck, the local rhyming slang for a cheque.
Another place you may have delivered is Bartoline in Beverley, They manufactured oils and solvents for decorating and industrial sealants.

My Uncle worked for John Good, man and boy, he was a dock runner & traffic clerk before getting in the book keeping section and then when he retired he was handyman and dock runner again for several years. John Goods MD died a couple of weeks ago whilst on a half marathon. his name was Mathew Good 34 and he was from a long line of the Goods family in the business.
Hopefully someone will remember the drivers names you mentioned

I remember Jenny as we all used to park up and have our lunch together when I worked at United Carriers. Just near the wharf mentioned, there was a little cafe built onto a pub run by a lass called Maureen Tock. I remember seeing her in a pub one night too.

Any idea of the date on that cutting?
There are certainly plenty of ladies driving tippers around the Hull area today.
I earned my stripes before I could drive with a woman driver from Hull. I used to be sent with her to help her with sheets and drum carriers. she could manage, but the boss reckoned with her size and me being about 12 years old, we could run rings around the regular drivers ![:stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:](https://emoji.discourse-cdn.com/twitter/stuck_out_tongue.png?v=12)
I remember her favourite trick in the cafe, if anyone mentioned Oldham she would grab their knackers ![:stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:](https://emoji.discourse-cdn.com/twitter/stuck_out_tongue.png?v=12)
I am struggling to remember her name but she was gorgeous to me at that age, and she drove a proper lorry!
Hi wheel nut, that cutting was taken from one of hoveringham gravels in house magazine dated March 1979.
At that time i was working at finningley quarry as a mobile plant fitter.Hope this is of use to you.

Yes. I would be at United Carriers around that time. I had two spells there so I get a bit mixed up. Cheers
