Link Transport eventually Malc? Used to do wet fish deliveries overnight into shop door ways and off like sh*t off a shovel.

Wouldn`t mind seeing any old photos of Link Transport if anyone had some, I used to spend many a weekend in there yard at Marflleet as a lad. My old man was shunter.

There are a couple of F10 Volvos in Link Livery that Johnny Rose put on, although they were found on a website from Wales

Whoops! Got that wrong did’nt I ? Not West Dock Avenue, Bottom of there was the old Tunnel. It was at the T Bridge. Top of the T Bridge, turn left down the ramp, bear right and there he was. As was said near the Marina. Mind you that was about 40 years ago and the old memory is’nt as good as it was.
Cheers, Archie.

This is an old haulage company who have some new lorries.

Remember Arrow Bulk Carriers from early sixties especialy Scammell artics they had amongst a very smart fleet livery mostly grey in colour with significant signwriting. Pity these days that more fleets don`t follow suit.

The post with the Scania Vabis revives memories about Ernest Waudby of North Cave in the early seventies. Does anyone remember a fitter who worked with them called Bill Riseam originally from Hull who worked for the Blackburn Aircraft Company in Brough during the sixties!

Hi Guys!

Im new to the forum, and my father in law used to run a lot of Bulkers and rigid tankers in the 70s-2000s J Pockley (Corn Merchants) ltd was the Bulkers in White and orange and the tankers were J. Pockley (Fuels) ltd, running in there Silver and blue livery with Fina fuels on them.
They also have pea wagons for Birds Eye, and there is a lot of those still in the Hull area…any pics from the various years?

Also, i live in Paull where the Bulk Haulage used to be, is D, S & L Fuels…i will grab some pictures at some point!

I also have an interest in rob hatfield haulage ltd too, anyone got snaps of there units?

Great forum and great pics!

Thanks!

Steve

Hi.
Moved up to Hull from Derby, mid 60’s,got a start with Ken Reader Timber in Lee Smith street.Sportsman pub on the corner, lads there. Jack Woodley manager, Horace Jenks aka “Hori- H… -C…”,drivers Bob Agar/Dave Towel/Tommy Lyons,(Lived at Routh?),the Major brothers, plus a few more, and a Lady called “Tilley ?”,(she lived in L/Smith st.) used to come and tidy up around. Next BRS. Leads rd. Foreman, George Humphries one proper man!, Dennis Naggs, Bobby Beitch on the dock,Ben Nevis,Sid Hann,Porky Ward, Jockey Isley ? Appy Applegate?,Saddington, “Johnny Jesus”,i think he went to MAT,Charley Ozzy ,+ a few more. Then BP chemicals Salt end, Harold West/East ?foreman, drvs.Dave Stow,Trev Derbyshire. Cyril Jessop? and a few more.A CHARACTER… Frank Fussy? on a tanker firm,he lived at Withernsea, the,“Dockers Majorca !” And said the 50p.piece was that shape,so you could get it out of a dockers hand with a spanner. Due to a misunderstanding of C licence rules,on their part :unamused: was asked if i would prefer to carry on my employment in the yard on a forklift… I went down to BRS. leads road that day, mon. and was delivering oranges to Coventry market on the wed. Just remembered,a “mate” in BRS was called Charlie, lived in New Town Flats opp.the clink,he said he liked to shout,“MUGGA” towards the prison the hands sticking the mugs out would be dockers   I think his sons drove for Fletchers ?.
Happy days, would i come back? YES,surrounded by the same mates and drivers, had to move back to Derby, wife missed her mum.
hulltramper aka Donkey Derby
PS. ALL the lads i worked up there with, were the BEST,and to the drivers that picked us up on Willises? corner and took us back to Woodside,“You were diamonds.” Any history about any of these blokes would be appreciated. Thanks.
