I believe Longbones Haulage are still going . Might be wrong but I think they do caravan and mobile home movements.

I remember George Head and Longbones.
This is where Robertson Dale came from
Dayle Lymoine Robertson was an American actor best known for his starring roles on television. He played the roving investigator Jim Hardie in the NBC/ABC television series Tales of Wells Fargo, and Ben Calhoun, the owner of an incomplete railroad line in ABC’s The Iron Horse.
Dale Robertson died on the 27th February 2013
There was a company called Haltemprice Transport in Hull in the 60s.They worked with Reader brothers pulling Dutch trailers off the dock, loaded with lettuce, tomatoes etc… IIRC they ran LAD cabbed vehicles, could have been Dodges and were red or maroon in colour.

I used to deliver to Blundell Permoglaze Hull in the 70s when on tanker work. I’m sure they ran a trunk south and I think it was A J Blakey that did it.

Hi Chris
Yes in the seventies Blakeys did run a trunk out of Blumdell’s firstly to Birmingham when they did a trailer swop (Drop one on the road, pull the empty out of the warehouse drop it on the road, pickup the loaded trailer and stick it in the warehouse and then pickup the empty then back to Hull and repeat the process at Blundells, then latterly to Leicester
Blakey owned North Bridge Transport and it was an NBT liveried truck that was on the contract
I have a feeling it was a Blakeys truck that went over at Slipper Bridge

Thanks for that Spud,I remember the trailer being loaded for trunk when I was tipping there. Do you remember a firm called Haltemprice Transport who worked alongside Readers pulling Dutch trailers off the dock, loaded with lettuce/toms/etc in the 60s? Think it was a red LAD Dodge unit I saw at night, not sure though.

Hi Jon,
I’m fairly certain this was the last of the NBT liveried trucks, replaced by the red & white F7 volvos
